Dili, February 19, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, received the credentials of the Ambassadors of 12 countries. The official ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace, Nicolau Lobato.
This ceremony marks the official initials of the diplomatic mission of the Ambassadors to Timor-Leste and underlines the developing countries’ international relations.
President José Ramos-Horta welcomed the newly accredited Ambassadors to Timor-Leste and expressed hope that compromises would be reached to strengthen bilateral relations with their country.
“The previous ceremony was an important step in Timor-Leste’s diplomatic journey as we expand to diplomatic partners across the continent, creating new opportunities for cooperation. As a young democracy, we value international relations that help strengthen our position in the global community while advancing shared compromises for peace and prosperity.” The remarks were delivered by the President of the Republic at the Presidential Palace.
The President underlined the importance of international cooperation to respond to global challenges and advance the shared goals of peace, security and sustainable development.

This credentials ceremony is a concrete manifestation of Timor-Leste’s ongoing efforts to expand its diplomatic footprint and engagement with the international community in various regions.
In addition, the letters of credence from the Ambassadors of 12 countries are as follows:

- His Excellency Maynor Jacobo Cuyún Salguero, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala, resident in Jakarta, Indonesia.
- Her Excellency Jessica Maria Lópe Piña, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Venezuela, resident in Singapore.
- His Excellency Prof. Dr. Talip Küçükcan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye, resident in Jakarta, Indonesia.
- His Excellency Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, resident in Jakarta, Indonesia.
