62 HOUSES IN FOMENTU I REGISTER TO WAIT FOR TRANSPORTATION TO MUNICIPALITY

Dili, January 15, 2025 (Média Democracia) – In Comoro village there are four sub-villages that received calls from SEATOU but two sub-villages were damaged such as Fomentu I and Fomentu II.

According to the Head of Comoro Village, Elizio da Silva Marçal, the residents of Fomentu I with 92 houses continued to cooperate with the government to destroy their own houses for three days so that they could prepare for transportation to their respective municipalities.

“We are talking about the sub-village of Fomentu I, SEATOU asked for three days to give space to the community to demolish their own houses and be able to take advantage of some of their belongings to move to the municipality that has a total of 92 houses in Fomentu I and a total population of 540 people who so far live in the sub-village.” He said

He continued, the houses registered in Fomentu I to be relocated to the municipality with a total of 62, the government can prepare transportation so that the affected community can be relocated to their respective municipality so that they can carry out their activities as usual.

“62 houses of residents in Fomentu I have been registered to await transportation that will be prepared by the government to be moved to their respective municipalities. In addition, there are 42 houses that have been moved to the municipality and there are still 20 houses which still awaiting transportation to be moved to the municipality, most of the population is from Ermera, Oecusse, Bononaro and Viqueque,” he added.

He emphasized that residents who relocated to municipality but they returned to Dili because most of them worked to meet their daily needs, including sending their children to school.

“Many residents did not go to the municipality because some of them have land which far from the risk areas and some residents have families who offered them land to build houses, so they can live and earn a living in Dili,” he added.

He informed that his party asked the government through SEATOU together with the Ministry of Public Works in short-term to put nameplates in houses in Moris Foun sub-village, together with village officials/authority so that they can synergize with the community so that all work can run smoothly.

To further explain that Comoro Village has 14 sub-villages, three sub-villages are currently being evicted from SEATOU because they are occupied by places that are at risk of impacting their lives and based on the plan in the Moris Foun sub-village on the riverside in the short term each house will get a nameplate from the Ministry of Public Works in collaboration with the Comoro Village authorities.
