Dili, January 7, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Albino Barros, 70 years old from Atsabe, Ermera. Currently living in Raikotu, he started a small business with $10.00 selling vegetables and fruits on the roadside to meet his daily needs.
He admitted that he started this business with a capital of $10,00 by selling vegetables and fruit on the side of the Raikotu road to meet his daily needs.
“I started this business with a capital of $10.00 to buy goods such as vegetables and tomatoes, then I sold them again and the income I got I collected to continue buying these goods. Previously, I sold in Karantina, but SEATOU came and destroyed the place, so I moved to Manleuana, however, the place was not very good and people did not really like to buy goods because many traders sold the same goods, so people did not really like to buy. Therefore, I decided to move to the side of the road. The money I get every day I use to meet the needs of my family, because I have 12 children and two of them have died, leaving 10 children, and now all of them are married.” He said
He continued, he started this business from 2021 until now and will continue in the future.
“Even though I am old, I still try to earn a living even though the income is small, but it can be used for future living. I buy these vegetables from traders from Liquiça, Ermera and Aileu, I buy 6 stalks of these vegetables for $ 1.00 and I sell another stalk for 0.50 cents and others too.” He added.
He added to keep trying to work so that we can earn money to support our families. If we do not try to earn money, who will give us money to meet our daily needs?
