Oe-Cusse, January 31, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Rofina de Carvalho, 64 years old, from Oe-Cusse, Ambeno, has so far created her small business in Tono Park to earn money to meet her daily needs.
She said that her husband had left her for more than 10 years, so she decided to open a small business on the side of the road selling vegetables to earn money to meet her daily needs and send her grandchildren to school.
“It’s been almost 10 years since my husband left us, so I decided to make a small field and garden to plant vegetables such as spinach, cassava leaves, eggplant, chili and others, because I don’t have money to buy other people’s vegetables to sell again, so I decided to make my own field to plant vegetables and several types of food until the results are good and can be sold and get money to meet daily needs.” She said.
She continued, the vegetables that she uses for her daily small-scale sales come from her own fields or gardens, because these vegetables are very easy for people to buy, so every year she decides to continue gardening and producing products that can make money.
“The vegetables that I sell every day at a cheap price, every day I always get a price of $ 3.00, – to $ 4.00 and above. The vegetables that I sell such as cassava leaves one bunch costs 0.10 cents as well as spinach, for eggplant, chili 0.50 cents. If sold expensively people will not come because there are also many traders here,” She said.
She added that so far she had only been selling small items on the side of the road, although her turnover was not much, but she continued to try because this is as field for her to support her simple family so that they would not depend on other people.
To further explain that even though her husband had left them for years, as a single parent, she continued to work the fields by planting vegetables in order to get a decent income to run a small business on the side of the road, even though her income was limited, she continued her business because she was forced to do to meet her needs.
