Dili, February 4, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Although she does not have a partner like other people but do not kill Ricardina’s enthusiasm to continue to make money through creating small businesses such as selling fried food so that they can get money to pay for children’s school fees and daily needs.
Ricardina Henrique Gusmão, 28 years old, lives in Beduku, Dili, she has two children and as a single parent, her daily activity is selling fried food on the roadside.
She admitted that she chose to sell fried food on the side of the road to send her children to school and meet their daily needs, because if she only stayed at home she would not be able to make money.
“So far, I have been pioneering a small business by selling fried food on the side of the road. With this business, I can earn money to meet the needs of my two children. Although my income is tight, I am grateful because I can send them both to school and can meet my living needs,” She said.
She continued, while selling fried food she could earn enough income every day, which was $ 5.00 – $ 6.00, if her merchandise was not sold out she would take it home and give it to her children to eat.
“I sell fried food, in a day I can get a profit of 5-6 dollars, if I sell it until the afternoon and it is not finished I will take it home and give it to my children and younger siblings to eat because there are many people selling fried food on the side of the road so it makes it a little unsellable.” She added.
She also admitted that the money she earned from her fried food business was used to buy necessities for her first child and also for her child’s school fees, because her second child had not yet started school so she spent more money on her first child.
To further explain that even though her husband left her for more than three years and there was no one to take responsibility for them, so she decided to make a small business by selling fried foods to earn money to meet daily needs and her children’s school fees.
