September 01–08: 33 Households Suffer Damage from Natural Disasters

Dili, September 10, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Civil Protection Authority through the External Relations and Communication Office (GREK) reported that from September 1–8, during one week, APC registered 33 affected households due to natural disasters in 8 municipalities. The conference was held at the APC Caicoli Hall on Monday.

APC Head of External Relations and Communication, Nelson de Jesus Orleans, stated that during the disaster events in 8 municipalities, APC recorded 5 households in need of emergency-only support and 28 households affected under priority criteria. APC municipalities provided emergency assistance to the victims affected by the disasters.

“During one week in 8 Municipalities, the Civil Protection Authority, through the State Secretary of Civil Protection, recorded 28 households affected by natural disasters, with 5 households receiving emergency-only support, affecting 161 people and evacuating 18,” said Nelson de Jesus Orleans, Head of External Relations and Communication.

Nelson de Jesus Orleans further explained that in 8 Municipalities, APC recorded a total of 33 households affected by disasters: 28 partially damaged and 5 completely destroyed, during the week of September 1–8.

“8 Municipalities, which suffered damage, such as, in Baucau Municipality: Vemase Post, Osuala village, Aldeia Umana Iku, 1 fully destroyed household by fired. In Venilale Post, Uai Oli village, Uatu Missa hamlet, 1 partially damaged household by strong wind. In Laga Post, Tekinomata village, Caicasalari hamlet, 1 partially damaged household. In Sagadate village, Lasula hamlet, 1 fully destroyed household. In Afaça village, 1 partially damaged household, Quilicai Post, 1 fully destroyed household. In Bobonaro: Post Bobonaro, Tebabui village, Atupae hamlet, 1 partially damaged household. In Mali Post, Tapo Memo village, 1 partially damaged household; Tapo Memo village, Manu Aman hamlet, 1 partially damaged household,” said the GREK External Relations Office.

He also stated that in Dili Municipality, in Kristu Liurai Post, Becora village, Mota-ulun hamlet, 1 partially damaged household. In Ailok village, 1 partially damaged household. In Becora village, 1 partially damaged household. In Dom Aleixo Post, Comoro village, 1 partially damaged household. In Metinaru Post, Mantelolao village, 1 fully destroyed household. In Fatin Vera-Kruz, Lahane-Ocidental village, 1 partially damaged household.

“In Ermera Municipality, in Hatulia A Post, Asulau Sare village, 1 fully destroyed household. In Hatulia B Post, Fatubesi village, 1 fully destroyed household. In Rai-Laku Post, Fatukero village, 1 partially damaged household. In Ermera Post, Poetete village, Taklelan hamlet, 1 partially damaged household. In Riaheu village, 1 partially damaged household. In Talimoro village, Buro hamlet, 1 partially damaged household; Poetete village, 1 partially damaged household. However, in Liquiça Municipality, Fatin Liquiça Villa, Dato village, 1 partially damaged household; Dato village, 1 partially damaged household. In Leotala village, 1 partially damaged household; Asumanu village, 1 partially damaged household; Dato village, 1 partially damaged household; Fatin Loes, Lisadila village, 1 partially damaged household,” stated Nelson de Jesus Orleans.

He emphasized that in Manufahi Municipality, Betanu village, there were 2 partially damaged households, with 1 fully destroyed household and 1 partially damaged household. In RAEOA, Subregion Pante Makassar: Taiboco village, 1 partially damaged household; Bobocase village, 1 partially damaged household.

In Viqueque: Ba Uatulari Post, Afaloicai village, 1 fully destroyed household; Post Viqueque, Bahalara-Uain village, 1 partially damaged household; Post Bone, Nahareka village, 1 partially damaged household.

Victims of these natural disasters have already received emergency assistance from APC commands and relevant partners in each municipality, regardless of whether support was available, and the Civil Protection Operational Command in the municipalities will continue to collect data on households that suffered partial and total damage.
