Dili, 25 March 2026 (Média Democracia) – The National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS continues to conduct sensitization for General Secondary School Students Nobel about the HIV virus which threatens human life.
According to the President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS Daniel Marçal, this regular activity is seen as a response to the current situation in Timor-Leste which threatens human life, as HIV transmission virus is now increasing rapidly, particularly through sexual relations.
“This activity today looks at the situation of HIV-AIDS in Timor-Leste which is very dangerous and truly threatens everyone’s life, we see from the transmission cases, it’s not just blood transmission, one of the major transmissions is through men and women having free sexual relations.” Said President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS, Daniel Marçal
The President informs free sex happens a lot, due to the impact of available places which are now abundant in Timor-Leste.
“Available places that we see in Dili are abundant, recently we’ve spoken to the authorities and they’re very concerned, so this year our effort is to continue to speak out to raise people’s awareness, we say that free sex is not for single women or single men, and also for those who are married, have wives and husbands.” Informs President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS
The President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS explains, sex is everyone’s right but when it’s free it can harm their rights in the future.
“So let’s continue to motivate them, because we all love this country, love our people and love this nation. We ask for parents, contribution to look after their children and also religious leaders to continue to speak about morals to raise people’s awareness to stay away from bad things.” Explains President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS
At the same venue, Director of Nobel da Paz General Secondary School, Jerimeas da Cruz Pinto added, today the President of the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS came to share information with students at Nobel da Paz General Secondary School about HIV-AIDS, so students can stay away from free sex, because they are the new generation of this nation.
“Thanks to the President who came to share information with our generation today, because this generation will replace us, we’re old now, so the generation should move forward well, the formation is strong because it’s related to our health.” Says Director of Nobel da Paz General Secondary School, Jerimeas da Cruz Pinto
The Director stresses further, formations like this are important for students to know how to prevent themselves.
“The socialization shared by the HIV-AIDS team is very important for all youth and students, because it increases their knowledge on how to prevent themselves from free sex.” Emphasizes the Director of Nobel da Paz General Secondary School
On behalf of Nobel da Paz General Secondary School, I would like to express my gratitude to the team from the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS, who with great enthusiasm came to share information with the students to increase their knowledge about HIV illness.
Besides that, student representative, Celina Seran Soares, feels happy and thanks the National Institute to Combat HIV-AIDS for sharing very important information.
“I thank INSCIDA very much because they came to share information about the HIV-AIDS virus, as a youth don’t have free sexual relations, through today’s formation I feel great and very happy, how I can motivate myself through the information I received.” Says Celina Seran Soares
The student representative asks INSCIDA to continue sensitizing, so the new generation of Timor-Leste can stay away from HIV-AIDS. Meanwhile, according to data, the total number of HIV-AIDS patients is around 2 thousand and over 300 have lost their lives.
