Dili, November 28, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL) received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Vietnam to discuss opportunities related to the agriculture sector, particularly fertilizer and coffee production.
According to the Vice President for Tourism Affairs, Zelindo Engelbert F. S. D. Jordão de Araújo, the meeting was an initiative of the Vietnamese Ambassador and his delegation, who visited Timor-Leste to participate in the 50th Anniversary of the Unilateral Declaration of Independence and to meet with CCI-TL.
“The purpose of the Ambassador’s visit to Timor-Leste is to take part in the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Unilateral Declaration of Independence, and also to visit the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-TL) to observe and explore potential business activities between both countries, opening opportunities for cooperation and joint work,” said Vice President for Tourism Affairs, Zelindo Engelbert F. S. D. Jordão de Araújo.
He added that the Ambassador, along with his team and private sector representatives, demonstrated strong interest in exploring the promising opportunities Timor-Leste can offer to Vietnam. In particular, both sides discussed agriculture-related industries, focusing on fertilizer and coffee production, two areas from which Timor-Leste can greatly benefit by learning from Vietnam, the world’s second-largest coffee producer and a significant fertilizer manufacturer.
The Vice President also highlighted that, through Timor-Leste’s ongoing ASEAN accession process, Vietnam is ready to extend support and strengthen collaboration. Additionally, the upcoming visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister next year may create an opportunity for the signing of a cooperation agreement between CCI-TL and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
