Chinese Embassy Hands Over Materials to MSSI

Dili, March 21, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) received equipment from the Chinese Women’s Federation through the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste.

MSSI Minister, Veronica das Dores said that the support provided by the Chinese Embassy was the result of a participatory meeting of MSSI Vice-Minister in China.

“This support is the result of the participatory meeting of the MSSI Vice-Minister in China in September 2023 to discuss the women’s group team in China to talk about vulnerable families in Timor-Leste,” She said.

She also said that the Women’s Group through the Chinese Embassy to Timor-Leste continues to communicate regarding what material assistance is needed, especially in helping women and children in remote areas.

“The Women’s Group in China through the Chinese Embassy to Timor-Leste will continue to operate until 2024 to maintain communication on what material assistance is needed and to see the main needs that can help women and children, especially in remote areas.” The MSSI Minister said.

She also emphasized that MSSI will make plans through the National Direction of Social Protection to support women victims of violence against children and adolescents who deserve it.

“For this assistance, MSSI will make a plan through the National Social Protection Directive that can be utilized in supporting women victims of violence against children and adolescents who deserve it. We do not provide this material to personnel but we provide it to social solidarity institutions that are our partners.” Said the Minister

On the other hand, Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, H.E. Wang Wenli said that MSSI always compromises to improve the conditions of vulnerable groups, promote equity and inclusive growth.

“The Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion of Timor-Leste has always been committed to improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups and promoting social equality and inclusive growth, and the Chinese Women’s Federation as a major women’s organization in China has long been dedicated to protecting children and women’s rights and interests, promoting women’s development and actively participating in international affairs.” The Ambassador said.

The Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste continued that this donation marks the first collaboration between the entire Chinese Women’s Federations.

“This donation marks the first collaboration between the entire Chinese Women’s Federation, the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste and the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion, it is very important that through this initiative, China hopes that these supplies can help Timorese children access better learning conditions, provide opportunities for more employment for women and contribute to the social development of the country.” The Ambassador said

The assistance provided by the Chinese Women’s Federation through the Chinese Embassy to the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion was in the form of 750 children’s story books, 250 alphabet toys, 35 sewing machines, and 20 laptops.
