Dili, March 17, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Civil Protection Authority through the External Relations and Communications Cabinet (GREK) reported natural disaster data for one week. The press conference was held at the APC room, Caicoli Dili.
In a press conference reported by GREK, Nelson N. de Orleans said that from March 10 to 13 for a week in the Timor-Leste region there were several types of disasters recorded by APC such as strong winds that destroyed 15 houses, landslides that destroyed two houses, fires on one house, the number of victims affected was 60 people, the number of victims who were displaced was 13 people, who met the criteria 16 people, during one week the data was taken by APC in the municipality.
“The affected municipalities such as in Baucau strong winds destroyed eleven houses and one house caught fire, in Bobonaru landslides destroyed one house, in Ermera strong winds destroyed three houses and one house lost land, in Viqueque strong winds destroyed one house. From the natural disasters that occurred and the affected victims received emergency support from the APC Command spread across each municipality.” He said.
He continued, in April APC will restore 97 houses affected by last year’s disaster and a total of 497 families, excluding Ermera and Manatuto.
“The total data collected from January to this month is still in the verification process, because we know that last year we have not done recovery for damaged houses and this year APC will focus more on recovery for the houses I mentioned earlier.” He added.
Continue to inform the public that if there is rain or strong winds, they must immediately protect themselves or move away from places that are at risk, so as not to become victims of this disaster, parents are also advised to supervise their children who play near places that are at risk of disaster.
