Dili, March 18, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The National Institute for HIV-AIDS Prevention continues to conduct socialization to students of the Health Sciences Institute (ICS) on how to prevent themselves from HIV-AIDS in the country, because young people are the successors of the country’s development. This activity was held at the INCSIDA Hall, Pante-Kelapa, on Monday.
INCSIDA President Daniel Marçal said that training for young people and students is very important, because in Timor-Leste many people are infected with the HIV-AIDS virus, so that through this training they can avoid free sexual relations in several places.
“Many of our young people and students are smart in science but still lack insight, because they think about doing something first before they want to improve their future, so many are now infected with the HIV virus. Many young people now marry early without caring about the future and forgetting the sacrifices of their parents.” Said INCSIDA President, Daniel Marçal
He continued, currently many young people and students are easily trapped in the abyss of love which has a bad impact on their future, for that reason today INCSIDA and the team are providing training to students from ICS.
“Seeing this problem, today INCSIDA together with the Prime Minister’s Cabinet how to facilitate students, how to prevent themselves from HIV-AIDS, must think about the future to care about behavior that every day can destroy your future.” He said.
He added that he asked young people and students to care more about themselves, because currently many young people and students do not think about developing their future better, when they get married early it can ruin their future, because of early marriage their life is still long but seek knowledge to improve themselves so that their future is spread out today not tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the representative of ICS students, Domingos Soares da Silva said that today’s activity was very good because INCSIDA collaborated with ICS to share training to increase students’ insight, especially in the health sector, on how to prevent the transmission of the HIV-AIDS virus.
“I am happy because INCSIDA is collaborating with our institution to share training in order to increase our insight and capacity even more, especially in the health sector and talking about preventing HIV-AIDS, we know that HIV-AIDS is currently very large in Timor-Leste.” Said the representative of ICS students, Domingos Soares da Silva.
He continued, seeing that the data is very large in our beloved country, in the future prevention needs to be carried out because students are the main actors in preventing the transmission of HIV-AIDS in this country, because the future is very important for everyone.
“As a representative of all students, when we hear information from INCSIDA, it will not stop here because the academics will bring the information we have learned to share with the community in rural areas,” he said.
He further emphasized that the information he obtained from INCSIDA, as an academic, would be shared with communities in remote areas who had previously had difficulty accessing information related to HIV-AIDS, because the virus was now continuing to spread in the country.
Further explained that through this training, INCSIDA shared information with ICS students from five departments, such as the Department of Nursing, Department of Midwifery, Department of Abiotic Laboratory Sciences, Department of Pharmacy, and Department of Nutrition.
