Dili, February 20, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The National Institute for HIV-AIDS Combant continues to provide training to young people and new generation students with a total of more than 200 people at the AHHA Education SOLS Becora Institute on how to prevent themselves from the HIV-AIDS virus.
The President of the National Institute for HIV-AIDS Combant, Daniel Marçal said that the SOLS organization exists in all Municipalities in Timor-Leste almost to educate our young generation to work abroad, but many of our young generation fail in their lives, because there is a motto that states, “Love destroys our future because of early marriage”
“INCSIDA sees this problem from its organization like SOLS where many young people are concentrated, so INCSIDA creates a coordination channel so that they can share information that can provide benefits for the future of young people, if they do not provide training then they will face many problems, because many young people come from the municipality to concentrate in SOLS.” He said.
He continued that many young people have hard lives, and some have HIV. Because many young people do not live freely, it does not mean that women and men are not good, but the problem is that they love each other so it is very easy for them to live as a married couple.
“So through this training, INCSIDA wants to provide encouragement and humanize young people with good speech so that they can change their mindset and mentality so that they can live solidly in the current global era, because young people not suffer more because of the food and drinks they like, but they suffer more when they fall into free association, marry young which can transmit the virus in society.” He added.
He added that currently Timor-Leste has many young people, but these are fragile in their minds to ensure their future. However, so far many young people have fought for their future, but they have fallen in the middle of the road because they use love only for fun without thinking about their future.
“We can imagine that many parents have been looking for money to finance their children’s future, but for children, they are given fragile thoughts to destroy their future, because when they are still young and not married, the struggle for a better future is better, but when they are married, the struggle for a future is difficult, there are indeed those who succeed but many also fail.” He affirmed
He said, INSCIDA sees this issue as very important, the state provides funds to INSCIDA on how to gather young people like in the SOLS institution to provide training so that they can speak to young people through words that can transmit thoughts and mentalities to become better people in the future, even though in the process they always face challenges.
“We have coordinated with PAM, because we see that the HIV virus is more prevalent in villages and sub-villages, because the migration side identifies several houses for men and women to gather to live together same as human trafficking, because several sub-villages heads do not know and do not have insight. Therefore, INCSIDA coordinates with PAM Dili including Municipalities must talk more with community leaders in all places.” He added.
He informed that the circulation of HIV-AIDS and early marriage came from several places, seeing that many young people lived in boarding houses, which was very risky for them, for that reason INCSIDA wanted to coordinate with the authorities in order to save them from the risk of being exposed to the HIV-AIDS virus in Timor Leste.
As a representative of the AHHA SOLS Education Trainer, Inosençia do Rosario Quintas said that the training received from INCSIDA related to HIV-AIDS occurred in Timor-Leste with a very high number, so that through this training we can learn many things to prevent ourselves from this virus.
“My understanding of the HIV-AIDS virus through the training we received from INCSIDA is to provide insight and increase our capacity on how to stay away from this virus. When we only live in the municipality, it is difficult to access various information, so it is difficult to control ourselves.” Said the representative of the AHHA SOLS Education Trainer, Inosençia do Rosario Quintas
She added that HIV-AIDS was previously only caused by free sexual relations, but through this training, it has opened the minds of many young people to change their perspective to avoid the virus.
“The way to prevent ourselves from this virus is to approach health centers in all parties to do blood tests, so that we can find out our actual health condition, because if we don’t do blood tests then we don’t know what virus is attacking our bodies.” She said.
She added that as the young generation in Timor-Leste, she wants to convey a message to other young generations that HIV-AIDS is very dangerous for our lives, therefore let us together protect ourselves from the HIV virus, because young people are the next generation of this nation.
