Ataúro, March 17, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Public Administration held the inauguration of the new office of the Special Fund for Development of Ataúro (FEDA). The inauguration ceremony of the FEDA office was held in Ataúro, last Friday.
In an interview with the Minister of Public Administration, Tómas Cabral said that today the inauguration of the FEDA office was held with the aim of seeing the developments in the various areas. The FEDA survey in Dili does not have a better office. This office will be moved to Ataúro and will move the Director and Deputy to Ataúro to make plans here and also carry out development in the various areas that have been identified in Ataúro.
“Today, the Prime Minister also said that it is necessary to create a strategic plan and a regional planning, so today we inaugurate FEDA as a place to realize the regional planning to consult with the whole community about what we need to start doing in Ataúro,” said Minister of Public Administration, Tómas Cabral.
He continued that FEDA as a Special Fund to support the Government here, all infrastructure in Ataúro FEDA will serve everything as we have heard earlier to conduct surveys to the Airport, Port, Health, Roads, Electricity, Clean Water and other developments. Therefore, FEDA’s duties also cover the Special Region of Oe-cusse, Zeems funds are all in FEDA.
“We have realized some of the work of FEDA, yesterday we visited the road to continue the work and there are still 21km left to go around Ataúro. FEDA’s work this year will look more at roads because roads are important infrastructure that is very much needed by the community, then next will look at Education and others.” he added.
He added more funds for this year with a total of 1.2 million to see the development process as they have mentioned but regarding the funds it is very small, so next year with the plan they have they will allocate 3 million for the development process, they cover all the sectors that can be realized in Ataúro.
FEDA Executive Director, Hermes da Rosa Correia Barros added that the inauguration of the FEDA office will place the assistant engineer here to centralize the work in the field for the village to coordinate with the community to realize the work then through the General Council between PAM Ataúro and the FEDA General Council to decide the types of priorities that can be implemented each year.
“FEDA in 2024 will implement many projects such as the unique balcony that we just launched, another is the school, and another is the road that FEDA opened from Makadadi village to Berau village, Beloi village, Harlou sub-village to Adara sub-village and from Adara sub-village to Atikru sub-village and also to Makee sub-village.” Said FEDA Executive Director, Hermes da Rosa Correia Barros
He continued that for the future FEDA has plans to build a national road from Maumeta-villa around Ataúro based on the existing design plan and will see the Airport which will be realized next year. From the Airport it has been discussed with the coordinator that there is one school and several community houses will be evicted to make way for the Airport.
