Dili, February 21, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MAPPF) through the Forestry Service distributed 30 motorbikes and 30 HT radio communication units to gurad officers in seven municipalities including the Special Region of Oecusse Ambeno, RAEOA to carry out their duties at the base.
According to the Ministry of MAPPF, Marcos da Cruz that the Ministry of Agriculture through the Forestry Service distributed motorbikes and HT communication radios to employees in seven Municipalities to carry out their duties responsible for crops in the Timor-Leste region.
“Motorcycles and HT communication radios will be handed over to the Forestry Security Guard and the Head of the Forestry Regional Representative in the Municipality. In addition, we also have four ‘hydrographic bacias’ such as in Oe-cusse, Tono, in Lautem, Raumoko, Suai Bee Lulik, and Ainaro where the motorcycles and goods will be given to the parties mentioned.” Said the Minister of MAPPF
He continued that the goal is to facilitate forestry officers in conducting supervision in the forest so that people do not cut down trees carelessly which can damage the environment. Another thing offered to the Head of Delegation is to be able to go to the field to explain to the community about the importance of working together with the state to be responsible for plants and planting trees where there are no plants.
“So far, we have classified the land in protected areas such as Lospalos Nino-Konisantana, Cablace, which we have designated as the national part of Cairala and also in other places where there are not many trees, we all need to contribute to protect them, so that people do not destroy them like in Ramelau, Matebian Mundo Perdido and other mountains,” said MAPPF.
He added that these motorbikes were given to employees for one purpose, which is to protect and other thing so that the Head of Delegation would go down to the base to talk to the community about how to be responsible for plants, so as not to cause disasters, floods and erosion and to create a healthy environment in the community.
It is recommended that employees who have received motorbikes and HT communication radios make the best use of them to carry out their duties at the base, because these items belong to the state, and these items will be placed at their respective posts, so that all employees can carry out their duties properly.
As a representative of the Forestry Service, Carlos Martins Soares expressed his pride because on this occasion he was able to receive assistance in the form of a motorbike and HT radio communication from the government so that in the future he could facilitate his duties at the base.
“I feel very happy because today is a very good opportunity to get assistance in the form of motorbikes and HT radio communication from the government through the forestry service to be used in order to supervise the community in the rural areas, so that they do not cut down trees carelessly and damage trees carelessly, because so far we have been using our own vehicles.” Said the representative of the forestry service, Carlos Martins
He continued, for years in carrying out work there were many obstacles faced, because in the past some people did not have their own vehicles to work in remote areas that were far from their homes so they could not reach all areas, but now with the existence of vehicles, he believed that all work can be facilitated, will run orderly and smoothly and successfully.
To further explain that the funds spent on motorcycles and HT radio communication with a total of 82 million from the SAPIP program. In 2014 when Prime Minister Kayrala Xanana Gusmão made a proposal and received approval from the World Bank with a total of 21 million to carry out development since 2016 until now.
