Ministry of Education Inaugurates Moris Foun 1 Preschool in Fatumeta

Dili, October 4, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Education (ME), together with teachers, parents, and students, held an inauguration ceremony for the Moris Foun 1 Preschool in Fatumeta. The event took place on Thursday of this week in Fatumeta.

In an interview, Minister of Education Dulce de Jesus stated that the Ministry allocated US$91,000 for the construction of the preschool. The project was funded under the 2024 Capital Development Fund, and the construction company successfully completed it within this year.

“Today, we inaugurated a preschool building that includes eight classrooms, restrooms for children which separate for boys and girls, a kitchen, and soon we will install a playground and garden area where the children can spend time playing together during breaks,” said Minister of Education, Dulce de Jesus.

Minister Dulce de Jesus appealed to teachers to take good care of the school and maintain a clean, pleasant, and safe environment for the children.

At the site, Domingas Beatriz da Cuinha, Coordinator of Moris Foun 1 Preschool Fatumeta, explained that the school began operating in 2000 as a community-based preschool.

“In 2003, our school became a public preschool and received accreditation that same year. We didn’t have our own building at the time, but in 2014 the Minister visited and encouraged us to build one. Later, we found this location in Fatumeta, and in 2024 we received the construction contract. The construction was completed in 2025, and today we are inaugurating the new building,” said Coordinator Domingas Beatriz da Cuinha.

She added that as the coordinator, she expressed gratitude to the Ministry and the Dili Education Office for their cooperation in ensuring that the school could finally have a new facility.

“Currently, Moris Foun 1 Preschool Fatumeta has a total of 130 students, consisting of 58 boys and 62 girls divided into two classes: Class A with 102 students and Class B with 24 students,” said Domingas Beatriz da Cuinha.

Ilidio Magno, representative of Providensia Unip. Lda, the company responsible for the project, explained that the preschool’s construction went through a public tender process, and Providensia was the winning bidder.

“Initially, the project was scheduled for completion in December 2024, but due to some challenges, we invited Providensia Leste as a subcontractor to help complete the project. The construction was finalized on September 30, 2025,” said Ilidio Magno from Providensia Unip. Lda.

The project representative confirmed that the construction officially began in October 2024, following the signed contract, and was completed in March 2025, with the official inauguration taking place today.
