Ministry of Foreign Business and Cooperation with ADB organizes CBP 2.0 Training

Dili, March 13, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Foreign Business and Cooperation and the Asian Development Bank held a training on the Capacity Building Program (CBP 2.0) for Timor-Leste ministers in the conference room at the Hotel Timor, on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Foreign Cooperation and Business through the Deputy for ASEAN Affairs S.E. Milena Rangel said that the training on CBP 2.0 was offered by the ASEAN Secretariat.

“Previously we held training on the Capacity Building Program offered by the ASEAN Secretariat from Jakarta in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, with this Timor-Leste Capacity Building Program taking part in our accession process and to continue providing training for our officials especially in the economic field. Now they come to participate in the second phase because the first phase was held last year where their participation came from the ranks of Ministers, from our friends who have been working in this field for a long time, then continue to provide training for them together with the ASEAN Secretariat and previously we thank the support offered by the Asia Development Bank for our accession process and for the Secretariat.” Said the Deputy Minister for ASEAN Affairs.

She also said that the formation of units in the secretariat and monitoring of implementation were based on the criteria that were driven in the ASEAN Accession Roadmap.

“We also talked about establishing a unit in the secretariat and then being able to monitor our implementation based on the criteria that drive our roadmap for full ASEAN accession. Now, we can see almost from the ranks of Ministers and many institutions here, especially those involved in economic issues, those who participate here from the level of Director General, Executive Director and National Director and focal points appointed in each ministry to participate here.” Said the Deputy Minister for ASEAN Affairs

On the other hand, the representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Stefania Dina said that ADB’s support funds for Timor-Leste will start in 2020 to 2026 with a total of 2 million USD.

“ADB is in collaboration with the government of Timor-Leste through the Ministry of Foreign Business and Cooperation to implement this initiative. ADB’s support to the government of Timor-Leste in the ASEAN accession process has begun since 2020 and until now ADB continues to provide funding support totaling 2 million for the Timor-Leste capacity building initiative to become a member of ASEAN.” Said the representative of the Asian Development Bank, Stefania Dina

In addition, the training organized by the Ministry of Foreign Business and Cooperation and the Asian Development Bank also received participation from development partners and ministers working in the economic sector.
