MS and INSPTL PHD facilitate health professionals to continue postgraduate studies

DILI, 06 March 2026 (Média Democracia) — Ministry of Health National Director of Human Resources Mary Christavaria Lopes stated that the Ministry of Health, this year is giving opportunities to 25 health professionals to continue their studies for Postgraduate at the National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL).

The National Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Health stated that the Ministry of Health signed a MoU with INSPTL PHD to facilitate postgraduate courses for health professionals to continue their studies in postgraduate studies for 2 years.

Based on the signing of a memorandum of understanding that began between INSPTL, PHD and the National Hospital Guido Valadares and the Ministry of Health to facilitate post-graduate courses for health professionals to fill health facilities in Timor-Leste this year, this year the MS will give another opportunity to 25 health professionals to continue their postgraduate studies for two years,”

The Director also stated that based on the support of this agreement that started last year, every year the Ministry of Health wants to start training Integrated Family Medicine to correspond to the needs of primary health care.

She said following the target of the Ministry of Health, every year there should be 25 health professionals, but last year there were only 23 and currently they are still continuing their learning.

We started last year with 25 people following the target that we wanted, but in the recruitment process, document selection until the end we got 24 candidates, one didn’t pass and one resigned, so there are 23 candidates who are currently in their second year of the learning process,” said Mary Christavaria Lopes.

She also stated that regarding this process, it’s normal and usually the Ministry of Health collaborates with the National University of Timor-Leste and currently they have started making a request to UNTL to open the referred vacancies.

We have already submitted a request to UNTL to open vacancies in the recruitment process, we only facilitate in document selection and this information has also been conveyed to the Municipal Directors, their requirements have been made public on the Palásiu da Cinzas page, then document selection is done through a team of juries composed of relevant parties deciding together in four institutions, once selection is done, then we enter the continuation process,” she Added.

She concluded that the vacancies have been made public, we expect that by March 31, all candidates will have submitted, our target is to have 25 in this year in 11 municipalities, SSM Ataúru, Aileu, Ainaro, Bobonaro, Baucau, Covalima, Ermera, Lautém, Liquiça, Manufahi, Viqueque except Dili. Because we know Dili is a center with access to national hospitals, so we prioritize the mentioned municipalities. The 25 vacancies were published until March 31, but if we see applicants from relevant municipalities didn’t get clear information and didn’t apply, there will still be opportunities for them to apply.
