Dili, March 24, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) is preparing 51 million sacks of food aid to help vulnerable groups in the region.
MSSI through its Director General, Florêncio Pina, said that MSSI prepared anticipated food for vulnerable groups in the region.
“We prepare ready-to-eat food for vulnerable groups and continue to distribute food to the city’s food barn based on calculations requested by the social solidarity center. This year, we have prepared 51 million sacks in the food barn,” he said.
He also said that currently the Perissos Company is having problems distributing basic food aid to the Social Solidarity Center.
“ALFAESA detected that the Perissos Company was experiencing problems in distributing goods, but in the last few weeks ALFAESA announced that the Perissos Company was still able to operate.” He said.
He also added that they support the food supply and they also collaborate with Leader Company to prepare food.
“In addition, we also support the provision of MSSI food ingredients and we also work with the Lider Company to prepare complementary food ingredients, such as rice, green beans, including milk.” He said.
In 2025, MSSI will purchase 51,000 sacks or 1,275 tons worth US$918,000.00. The plan will distribute 1,500 meals to Aileu, 1,500 meals to Ainaru, 2,400 meals to Bobonaru, 2,400 meals to Baucau, 2,400 meals to Covalima, 3,900 meals to Dili, 2,400 meals to Ermera, 1,500 meals to Manatuto, 1,500 meals to Manufahi, 2,400 meals to Viqueque, 2,400 meals to Oe-cusse and 600 meals to Atauro.
