Dili, November 15, 2024 (Média Democracia) – Belun NGO is in partnership with Plan International of Timor-Leste in collaboration with STAE and CNE which holds digital assessment literacy activities for city employees including Raeoa with a total of 46.
In the opening of the Director General of STAE, Eduardo Casimiro De Deus on behalf of STAE expressed his gratitude to the partner through this ongoing understanding note.
“On behalf of STAE wants to express my gratitude to the partners, especially about the MOU’s commitment that exists and in the progress that comes from the assessment we have made, this commitment shows that we are serious in our MOU, we are serious in this activity because STAE appreciate and very grateful.” Said Director General of Stae, Eduardo de Deus on Jl. Villa, on Wednesday.
Reality shows what now advances changes of technology makes everyone leave the radio, newspapers and television.
“The reality that is now faced by the world that many people leave radio, television, many people only use cellphones to find information and can explore all the information they want, the world in the media, therefore today’s topic of the Hadomi Timor Foundation that partnered with NGO and all of you here and also help from the European Union is very important” He said
Sometimes this list of literacy is a simple thing but does need to innovate so that simple things can be better and more beautiful because in the future when distributing information on social media, the public will receive information in just minutes or seconds because most people are now using cellphone.
He said that as a voter organ must have a lot of requirements in information through various ways, especially for inclusivity matter.
“An inclusive requirement we must use a variety of suitable ways so that we can convey existing information, because we see that digital literacy subjects are simple but try to use two days better, looking for existing knowledge in order to facilitate our work in future.” He added
Especially in public information and also voter education, how technical organ voter can use social media to convey correct and clear information to encourage voters to participate in the next election event, therefore can convey quick information to the public.
The Director emphasized that through existing commitments it is necessary to help each other to strengthen partnerships to maintain democracy.
“As a commitment that what we need is to help each other specifically to strengthen partners in the network of cooperation to maintain democratic life, so all look at the recommendations of the observation of the Eropean Union mission in 16 points but they are more focused on 5 points that talk about inclusivity.” He emphasized
On this occasion, Luis Ximenes as Director of BELUN said that BELUN together with partners held training on digital literacy to increase employee knowledge.
“Today, together with partners of Plan International in Timor-Leste and also STAE make training on digital literacy for STAE technical employees on how to add knowledge of their abilities about important media tasks.” He said
This training lasted for two days which was also facilitated by the Harii Timor Foundation who came with important subjects in the training to see how to use the work of making work in STAE and the election function in Timor-Leste.
He said, this training was to facilitate STAE technical employees about digital literacy.
“This is more focused on how to have good knowledge about digital literacy, how to apply or implement in the way STAE has, how to see voters in the selection time, how to communicate good press media in public, how to make the results of the use of the current technology which STAE has for the community.” He added
In addition, this training accepts the form of financial support for the European Union that manages from Plan International in Timor-Leste, therefore BELUN as partner which implement the activities. This activity is based on the results of the assessment for STAE and CNE in all municipalities. Although this training itself participated by STAE technical employees from the Municipality including Raeoa.
