Observation Of “HAK” On The Re-Structuring Of The Ninth Government

Dili, February 24, 2025 (Média Democracia) – HAK’s monitoring of the Ninth Government Restructuring that will occur in the short term. HAK asked the Ministries that are not functioning well to be restructured or replaced. This was conveyed by HAK when interviewed by Média Democracia journalists at his office.

In an interview with the Executive Director of HAK (Hukum Hak Asasi dan Keadilan), Feliciano da Costa Araújo said that the perspective of civil society observed the declarations of the Prime Minister starting from the handover of office, the Prime Minister immediately had a commitment that was conveyed in the declarations, another competence of the Prime Minister is to indeed recognize this government with its great weight, through all observations not only civil society noticed but also the population noticed that operational work was not going well.

“This cooperation as a government, especially for those who only serve in Dili, but also in the Municipality, is not running well, and the positions they hold are not functioning well. Civil Society observations of these operations during SEATOU’s service in Dili and several Municipalities, where the work of other Ministries and Secretaries of State, openly speak that during the work, SEATOU is the one who does all the work such as Teras work, Public Works work.” Said the Executive Director of HAK

He continued, the government has thought about carrying out restructuring because in several promises it was mentioned that the government would monitor the progress of each member for 120 days, but until now this has not been implemented, therefore the government is asked to carry out restructuring first before it can be announced to the public.

“The perspective of civil society on the Ministries whose operations really need to be paid attention to, such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Tourism related to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, State, these sectors need attention from the government because their operations are not running well.” He added.

To further explain that based on observations of civil society that talk about the ninth government restructuring, because it is related to the situation faced by the people of Timor-Leste and also regarding the performance of the Ministry which is not running well and is not based on their respective duties.
