Dili, July 21, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The opening match of the CPLP Cup between Timor-Leste and Portugal took place at the Dili Municipal Stadium this past Saturday.
In the first 45-minute half, players from both Timor-Leste and Portugal displayed beautiful football and applied strong pressure on each other’s goalkeepers, but neither team managed to score before the end of the first half.
The game continued into the second half, during which Portugal intensified pressure on the Timor-Leste players. In the 85th minute, Portugal scored a goal due to an own goal by Timor-Leste player Geremias Barreto, who wears jersey number 19.
In the final minutes of the match, Timor-Leste made great efforts to equalize, but failed to score, resulting in Portugal winning the match with a final score of 1–0.
