PAM & SEDL INAUGURATE DILI AGRICULTURAL SERVICE OFFICE

Dili, January 10, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The President of the Dili City Authority together with the Secretary of State for Regional Development inaugurated the Dili Agricultural Services Office built by the local company Gaerenez Unipesoal, Lda in Becora. This activity was held yesterday.

The Director of Gaerenez Unipesoal Lda., Délia Araújo de Jesus expressed her gratitude to the Dili City Government for entrusting her to build this office and to complete based the existing contracts.

“We built this office based on the time that has been set, although we faced some obstacles but we were able to finish it even though it was a bit late. Once again I would like to thank the Dili City  Government for their trust and in the future will be a good partner for our company.” She said.

The amount of money used to build this office is 169 million USD with a total of six rooms including the kitchen.

“169 million USD was used to build this office with six rooms, such as a meeting room, director’s room, leadership room, staff room and kitchen with a construction duration of three months,” She said.

She emphasized that the obstacle experienced by the company was that when the office was being built, it was a place that had not yet been occupied by the community, so the company and the government approached the community based on the process and in the end the community left the place to build the office until it was finished.

As Director of the Dili Authority, Gregorio da Cunha Saldanha expressed his gratitude to the company for completing the construction of its office on time with good quality.

“We inaugurate a big office like this is very important because it has quality value, visually this office is very beautiful. Thanks to the company because we know that completing work based on the contract, we expect the quality to be like this, not only visually but also the work, the duration also determines the quality. Thanks to the company and congratulations to the Director of Agricultural Politics and his directors. We hope this office can work better and make changes in Dili in the future.” PAM Dili, Gregório Saldanha said

He continues to encourage local companies not to lose out to foreign companies, to work with discipline in order to save costs.

“Care about money and save, because people become rich and have money because we know caring about money is not like we have money and we can waste it all, but we must continue to care to improve work with quality and must continue to improve punctuality because in some jobs there are problems with the contract period with extensions because they are not well prepared to complete the contract on time.” He said

The President asked the Municipal Director of Agriculture and their delegation to continue organizing farmers even though Dili does not have extensive agricultural land.

“I also invite the agricultural delegation, the director of forestry and also food security, I ask that our agriculture continues to be organized, even though Dili does not have a large agriculture but at least we start with urban agriculture how to serve and understand our small country but must do something, we must with the principle of municipal politics so that the land is not empty and must plant something that has economic value.” He added.

He hopes with all his heart that he can inspire the director of the city’s agricultural service to also pay attention to plants and fruits in Dili which they start planting more fruits imported from Indonesia and also from within the country in order to develop agriculture and improve the quality of fruit so that they can reduce fruit imports from abroad.

On this occasion, Secretary of State for Regional Development Mateus Wilfridus Talo said that the companies that build can complete their offices as an important step so that urban agricultural services are closer to farmer groups.

“Through the Dili City Agriculture Office, this is an important step in the efforts of the Dili City Government to bring their work closer to agricultural groups, especially forestry and fisheries. I think this will be a safe place for them to work and facilitate dialogue with fishermen groups, agricultural groups and plantations in Dili based on the competencies that have been delegated in Law Number 84,” he said.

He added that this was an important step for the Dili city government because this office was also a step in perfecting the instruments of local power decentralization.

In addition, the ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Regional Development, the President of the Authorities and Structures, the President of the Authority Sesant Guilermina da Cunha, the Representative of the Dom-Aleixo Authority, the Regional Authority of Becora and other participants.
