PNTL Arrest Convict FA for Commiting Sexual Abuse Crime Againts Minor

Dili, 17 February 2026 (Média Democracia) – Timor-Leste National Police Command (PNTL), through the Criminal Investigation Work Directorate (DSIK), has arrested a convited person with the initials FA to serve 7 years in prison, for committing the crime of sexual abuse againts a minor.

Security Authority carried out the arrest of the covict, following a warrant from the Dili First Instance Judicial Court (Tribunal Judisial Primeira Instansia Dili) with Unique Crime Number NUC, 0139/23.DINFT.

According to information accessed by Média Democracia on the official PNTL page, the warrant from the Dili Court was issued on February 16, 2026, and at 9:00 AM, and today, DSIK authorities received the warrant and immediately executed arrest.

Security authorities carried out the arrest, locating the convitct with the initials FA at his residence in Likintai Taibesi, Alekrin aldeia, Lahane-Oriental village, Nain-Feto Administrative Post, Dili municipality.

The convict with the initials FA commited the crime of sexual abuse of minors that P.P from Article 77 and 2 the Criminal Code.

Therefore, the PNTL DSIK team executed the Court to arrest the convict, and then took him to serve 7 years in Becora Prison.

Meanwhile, the crime of sexual abuse is a situation where a person sexually abuses another person, through forces, threat, or manipulation. Therefore, sexual abuse can take many forms, such as sexual violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of children or women.

Sexual abuse cases happen in various places like homes, workplaces, schools, or public areas. Victims can be women, children, men, or anyone vulnerable. They get help from police, hospitals, and organizations for women and children. Therefore, sexual abuse againts minors happen when someone exploits vulnerable kids. It can involve improper physical contact, showing pornography, or innappropiate word/action.

Sexual abuse againt minors can have severe impacts on children, like psychological trauma, emotional trauma, future relationship difficulties, and mental health issues.
