PNTL Command Appreciates Crime-Free Record during CPLP Games Over Two Weeks

Dili, July 29, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Timor-Leste National Police Command (PNTL) has expressed appreciation and gratitude to the citizens, especially the youth, for their participation and contribution in maintaining peace and stability during the CPLP sports games held in the capital Dili over the past two weeks, during which no incidents of conflict occurred. This was conveyed in a press conference accessed by Média Democracia through PNTL’s official page on Tuesday of this week.

The PNTL Command Spokesperson, Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis, stated in a press conference on Monday that the CPLP sports activities held over the past two weeks were very well controlled from beginning to end, lasting almost twelve days. For this reason, the PNTL Command wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for everyone’s participation in this sports event.

“I want to express appreciation and gratitude to the people of Timor-Leste, especially our youth, for their contribution in maintaining peace and stability during the smooth running of this event from the arrival of the delegations until now, during the games and up to the time some delegations have returned home, and others returned today. The PNTL Command has not recorded any criminal cases related to the games themselves,” said Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis.

The Superintendent further explained that during the two-week-long activity, all citizens, especially the youth, demonstrated great maturity toward the visiting delegations, and many young people were excited and eager to learn from their CPLP peers.

“The challenge in terms of human and logistical resources that the PNTL Command faced in organizing this event was normal, but it did not stop our will or spirit to serve all our people in the country,” stated the Director of DSIKN, Superintendent.

The Superintendent affirmed that during the CPLP sports games, the PNTL Command faced challenges regarding human resources, but this was considered normal and did not hinder their commitment or spirit to serve the public, particularly the youth.

Furthermore, the Timor-Leste National Police Command (PNTL) issued a press release informing the public that during the two weeks of the CPLP sports event, no criminal cases were recorded. This serves as an encouragement to all citizens, especially the youth, to continue maintaining peace and stability in the country.
