Dili, June 20, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, accompanied by an official delegation, arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 16:30 local time. Upon arrival, the team was received directly by the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Malaysia, Lisualdo Gaspar, and then proceeded directly with the delegation to the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
The PR is participating in the Global Leadership and Dialogue Initiative (GLDI) international forum, taking place in the Malaysian capital. President Ramos-Horta’s participation in this forum represents his ongoing commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and ethical leadership at a global level.
President Ramos-Horta serves as the keynote speaker, addressing Timor-Leste’s experiences and perspectives on humanist leadership and constructive international dialogue.
The event also includes the launch of the book of Anwar Ibrahim: Global Justice and Peace Through Dialogue of Yusmadi Yusoff”, who also serves as President of the RIGHTS Foundation. This session features the participation of prominent public and political figures, including Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, current Member of Parliament of Malaysia, and wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The program also includes an official gala dinner with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Malaysia is regarded as a strategic partner within the ASEAN context and a long-standing supporter in Timor-Leste’s development journey.
