Dili, February 11, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Secretary of State for Equality (S.E.I.) together with the Secretary of State for Cooperatives held a meeting with the aim of introducing gender politics or compromise to SECOOP in order to implement gender-perspective legislative and program policies.
According to S.E.I. Elvina Sousa de Carvalho that today S.E.I and the team gathered with the Secretary of State for Cooperatives to discuss gender-wise finance and also look at political promotion of equality.
“We found that SECOOP as the Secretary of State for Cooperatives that is very important and sensitive to the implementation of politics and gender compromises adopted by the state of Timor-Leste, for example the declaration of compromise on Maubise and the compromises that SECOOP has so far had to comply with are the existing ‘sido concluding observations’.” Said the Secretary of State for Equality
She continued, so far S.E.I also found that through this meeting there were a lot of cooperative members, especially for women’s cooperative activities which were very good and had achieved success.
“S.E.I. continues to establish good communication with other ministries so that it can ensure implementation through national politics to the promotion of equality and the Maubisse declaration that has so far been signed by SECOOP for this compromise.” She said.
She added that previously the Secretary of State of SECOOP had conveyed that there was a compromise to implement gender compromise as stated in the Maubise Declaration ‘Sedo Concluding Observation’ and there was also a compromise to make investments in order to promote equality and inclusion in institutions and also ensure investments in promoting equality and inclusion.
To explain better that there is a recommendation to the Secretary of State of SECOOP to continue to maintain and invest in the promotion of equality and inclusion especially in the annual action plan and also can invest in the promotion of equality to reduce the gap through reasonable financial investment towards gender. As stated earlier that SECOOP is truly committed to investing in the promotion of equality and inclusion in Timor-Leste.
