SEATOU CONVERTS WITH COMMUNITY IN CULUHUN ABOUT PUBLIC ROAD EXPANSION

Dili, January 10, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The government through SEATOU is conducting a dialogue with the Culuhun community regarding the expansion of the public road from Culuhun to Fatu-ahi.

According to SEATOU, Germano Santa Brites today held a dialogue with the Culuhun community regarding the expansion of the public road.

“The plan to expand the public road starts today and now there has been a meeting with the Culuhun community, Dili and tomorrow there will be a meeting with the Becora community and next week it will start with the Camea community so that they can understand the process so that they can prepare themselves how to work with the state so that they can move, see the side of the road to provide space for public transportation to turn around, especially the highway from Culuhun to Fatu-ahi is narrow because for years cars and motorbikes have been increasing. Therefore, the state through SEATOU has given notice to the community living near the public road to prepare themselves because there is already clear data and design, later it will be shown to the community so that they can prepare to move from the side of the road to give the government time to do their job.” SEATOU said

On the other hand, the Head of Culuhun Village, Deus Dado Martins said, today SEATOU is holding a dialogue with the community on how to prepare themselves to move, especially the community on the edge of the highway, because SEATOU has given time from January 9 to February 9 for the community to vacate the places that have been included in the list, especially in data collection.

“Today SEATOU is holding a dialogue with the community on how to prepare to move, especially for people living near the highway, because today SEATOU has given a deadline from January 9 to February 9 for the community to vacate their homes, because the data collection in Culuhun is around 30 while in Kampun Baru there are 2, most of the land is owned by the state and in Loelako Hamlet including private land, but the state identifies that the land that belongs to the state, the community must cooperate with the state to move, but there must be compensation from private land and state land is different.” Said the Head of Culuhun Village.

He emphasized that in Culuhun, the community is ready to work together with the government to vacate their homes, because the village and sub-village heads continue to urge the community to work together with the government, so that the government can repair public roads.
