Seven People passed Fiji Scholarships.

Dili, 04 March 2026 (Média Democracia) – Ministry of Health (MS) through its National Diirector of Human Resources Mary Christavaria B. Lopes Bria stated that there were 12 scholarship slots from the Fiji Government, but 5 were cancelled, leaving 7 for Timor-Leste.

The Mary Christavaria B. Lopes Bria added that the scholarship process from the Fiji Government started year with 46 candidates, 11 didn’t pass the document selection, but 35 passed the document selection.

Our candidates for the Fiji Government scholarship started the process last year, in the preparation phase, we had 46 candidates who applied for this position, 35 applicants passed the document selection and were submitted to Ministry of Health’s planning department. The documents weren’t selected by us, but scanned and sent them directly to Fiji, and they did the futher selection. We received a cover letter stating that seven people passed the selection in Fiji.” said the National Diirector of Human Resources.

The National Diirector of Human Resources also stated that out of 12 positions opened by MS, 7 passed and 5 didn’t pass.

The positions we opened were 12, including psychiatry, ophthalmology, pediatrics, oral sugery, dermatalogy, obstetrics and emergency care, general sugery, and anesthesia. But recently, only 7 passed, according to the response from Fiji.” said the Human Resources Director.

She also added that MS only did document selection and scanned documents sent via email to Fiji, and applicants applied directly to Fiji. Currently, the General Director of Cooperatives Services is the point of contact for Fiji.

For Fiji, it’s a bit different from Cuba. We, the Ministry of Health, only do document selection, scan the documents, and sent them via email to Fiji, then they do further selection, applicants apply online directly to Fiji, and Fiji responds directly, our team of juries here only do document selection, and the president of the jury takes care of the results. Currently, our General Director of Cooperatives Services is the point of cantact for Fiji, so there’s coordination between Fiji and the Director General of Cooperatives,” added the Director.

She concluded that many candidates applied to Fiji and also applied for scholarships to Cuba. Even if they pass, if they’ve already passed in Cuba, certainly the vacancy is empty because they passed in Cuba. Those who didn’t pass can prepare to compete again next year.
