Dili, July 19, 2025 (Média Democracia) – A player from the nation of Timor-Leste is ready to face Portugal and will make every effort to secure a victory in the opening match of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries) games, which will take place this Saturday at 7:30 AM at the Dili Municipal Stadium. This announcement was made during a press conference held at CCD on Friday.
In a statement issued by the official coach of Timor-Leste, Denilson G. B. Guteres, he spoke briefly about the team’s preparations for the upcoming opening match against the Portuguese national players. He expressed confidence in a win, given the team’s intense training sessions.
“As the coach of this team, I believe we must win the match, especially because we are playing at home. Therefore, tomorrow we will all witness the match together at Dili Municipal Stadium,” said Coach Denilson G. B. Guteres.
He added that they are hopeful the team will demonstrate great value in tomorrow’s match, highlighting that the players are technically and physically ready after undergoing rigorous training and preparation.
“The players who will compete in tomorrow’s opening match have been selected from various municipalities and have undergone four to five months of training. This means we are fully prepared both physically and mentally. I believe we will achieve victory in tomorrow’s game,” added the coach.
Captain of the Timor-Leste team, Inigo Martins Bras, also expressed confidence that the team is ready to face Portugal in the opening match and aims to secure a win.
“Looking at our preparation so far, everything has gone well. We, the players, are ready to win against Portugal. We will bring joy to all Timorese supporters who will be present at the match tomorrow,” said Captain Inigo Martins Bras.
Meanwhile, the head coach of the Portuguese national team, Pedro Mota da Silva, emphasized that his team is also prepared for any match and ready to compete against Timor-Leste.
“This match is special because it’s part of the shared history and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries. I think it’s a great moment for the history of the Portuguese language,” emphasized Coach Pedro Mota da Silva.
He reiterated that in football competitions, every coach always aims to win. Clearly, Timor-Leste wants to win tomorrow’s match, and Portugal does too because in any competition, no one wants to lose.
