ETELVINA STRUGGLES TO LIVE BY SELLING CHICKENS

Dili, January 01, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Living in a simple family, he had to struggle hard to be able to run a business in order to be able to meet her living needs and send her children to school, even though there were many obstacles she had to face, but this did not dampen her enthusiasm to continue running her chicken selling business.

Etelvina Moniz, a 49-year-old woman from Bobonaro as a chicken trader, she has three children, therefore she decided to run a business by selling chicken to meet her daily needs.

“Living in this world is not easy to earn money, so I decided to sell chickens to meet my family’s needs and I can send my children to school and some of the money I use to build my house, so I can have a place to rest, and the place must be safe, the house I built is located in Tasi-tolu, Dili.” She said

She added that the chickens she sold were purchased from Lauhana and then brought to Dili to be sold in Tasi-tolu.

“The chicken that I sell I buy in Lauhana, I buy in Lauhana for a total of $ 500.00, if it runs out I can get $ 1,000.00, that means I get a turnover of $ 500.00. The chicken that I sell for $ 5.00, every day people can buy $ 100.00 and below, but on holidays it can sell for more than $ 200.00,” She added.

In addition, as a woman, she has good ideas for running a chicken selling business and the profits from this business can be used to meet daily needs and school fees for her children. Another advantage is that she can build a house for her family to live in.
