Dili, January 02, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Alfredo Tilman Gonçalves, 60 years old from Ermera, Lasabe, he has six children, currently runs a business selling cigarettes, phone credits and gas fuel on the side of the Tasi-tolu road.
In his interview with Alfredo, he said that he has been involved in this business activity for a long time, almost six years, since 2019 until now and he will continue to do it in the future, because living in Dili is not easy to earn an income.
“I started selling this item since 2019, the first money I used at that time was $ 100.00, first I bought cigarettes and credit to sell, then a few years later I started selling gas fuel. I use the money from this business to meet my family’s needs and most importantly I use it to pay for my children’s school fees.” He said
He added that on holidays he feels happy because people can buy his merchandise, unlike on normal days, so on holidays he still sells on the roadside to sell cigarettes, phone credits and gas fuel.
“During the holidays I am happy because many people buy my merchandise, on holidays I can earn $50.00 per day unlike normal days where I only earn $25.00. Indeed, on holidays I have to gather with my family to celebrate Christmas but I want to keep selling because this is a good opportunity to earn money. The cigarettes that I sell are based on their brands such as LA I sell for $2.00, Malboro and Surya I sell for $2.50 and gas fuel in big Aqua I sell for $2.00.” he added.
To further explain that Alfredo is a very good father to his family by trying hard to earn a living in various ways, and from night to morning only selling on the side of the road using a cart just because he wants his family to live in prosperity and his children to be able to get a good education for their future.
