Dili, January 24, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Mercy Corps Timor-Leste handed over non-food item emergency assistance to the Civil Protection Authority (APC). The ceremony was held at the APC hall, Caicoli, Dili on Thursday.
According to the Civil Protection Authority (APC), Domingos Mariano Reis said that Mercy Corps Timor-Leste partners today handed over emergency support packages totaling 195 to the APC.
“Really appreciate Mercy Corps’ support to APC, when a disaster occurs in the field APC can provide assistance to victims who are affected by the disaster. So this assistance is very important, please ask the relevant parties to carry out emergency response management so that they can handle the existing disaster.” He said
He emphasized that the existing emergency response packages must be managed well so that they can be responded to immediately in the event of an emergency, if the items are not well maintained and not used properly then how can they be responded to in the event of an emergency. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of Mercy Corps which not only today but for more than 10 years has always supported APC.
On the other hand, Mercy Corps Country Director Sean Kenney said that he also wanted to introduce Mercy Corps’ support work in the region, especially in reducing disaster risk. Support in the region, together with Mercy Corps, is an honor for Timor Leste to respond and help the community in their time of need and also see their needs in the recovery process.
“Politics with a system that supports cooperation is very important, but in this process is the response, and this response is what we are waiting for for further cooperation.” Said the President Director of Mercy Corps, Sean Kenney
He emphasized that Mercy Corps also thanks all parties who helped facilitate this process, including partners to make good progress.
