Dili, January 25, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Transport and Communications clarified the funds allocated for the construction of 10 public transport stops, built by the company Carisma Unipessoal Lda. This clarification was made at the MTC, Caicoli on Friday.
According to the Minister of Transportation and Communication, Miguel Marques Manetelo, in the latest news from the Tatoli Agency some time ago regarding the construction of 10 public transportation stops in Dili with a budget of 96 million USD, it was clear, because it was stated there that the progress of the work had only reached 35%, while many people were confused about the amount of the budget.
“It needs to be emphasized that the progress of the construction of this public transportation stop is long, because the Ministry prepares the design, Plant and Book Charge (BoQ) then submitted to the Ministry of Public Works to be verified and brought to the National Development Planning Agency, also design verification is carried out, specifically for this fund, then a public contest can be carried out.” He said.
He explained that the public contest was held with a total fund of 96 million USD based on verification by the National Development Agency.
“The public contest that we held with a value of 96 million USD is based on verification by the National Development Agency, not just the Ministry. The price of goods here is not bought domestically but from abroad.” He added.
He added that the public should be able to know and read the news in Tatoli so that they can clearly know the progress of the work and the goods come from abroad because some of the equipment is used for people with disabilities on the sidewalk, especially those using wheelchairs.
“Want to clarify to the public to read the Tatoli news, it is stated that the construction is only 35%, which means that there is still 65% to be completed, so that means the construction progress is not finished because later the bus stop will be built using equipment for people with disabilities on the sidewalk, especially those using wheelchairs.” He explained.
He suggested that when people with disabilities want to ride a car, they do not need to walk, just wait at the car stop and those who use wheelchairs just push them into the car. Meanwhile, the construction of 10 public transportation has only reached 35%, still 65% with a total of 96 million USD.
