“Today I am very happy and grateful to the God Almighty that now can held the first conference of the Department of Surgery which brings together speakers from various countries and within the country to convey their unique services to our patients who are at HNGV.” Said the Director of HNGV
She hopes that through this conference, ideas can be exchanged to discuss the treatment cases faced by patients.
“With this conference, it is hoped that we can exchange ideas about extraordinary cases and see the existing limitations, so that we can provide treatment for these cases, so that we can discuss and exchange ideas, and also produce new ideas that can contribute to the development of the Department of Surgery in the future.” She said.
In September, it was seen that patient care at HNGV was not only for special people but treated all patients equally as Timorese.
As Deputy Minister of Health for Hospital Operations, Flavio Brandao Mendes Araújo added that today is the first time that specialist doctors have held a scientific activity to contribute to development.
“So, today is very important for them, they also made the first scientific day in our country, this celebration is to make their society more organized and contribute better, not only Timorese but with related partners, this is why today we gather here, and also some senior professors have helped us.” He added.
He said that for 20 years our Timorese surgeons have been taking medical specializations in various fields on all continents, so that Timor-Leste does not lack resources.
“After 20 years, we have medical surgeons who practice in different countries, there are different cultures, different continents such as, Latin America, Europe, China, also Asia, our doctors are medical specialists who have different disciplines, orthopedics, pediatrics, general plastic surgery, want to say that we are not poor and lack resources in this field.” He continued.
He added that there needs to be good conditions for the workforce and also provide confidence in the medical surgical world in the country.
“We just need how the workforce can get good conditions, so that it can produce good outcomes, we can get trust for our health services in this country.” He said.
In an interview with the Deputy for Hospital Operations, he believed that the two-day meeting could better discuss various issues related to the specialization.
