Dili, February 17, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Secretary of State for Social Communications (SECOMS) asked journalists to work based on three important capacities, so become journalists who are independent towards everyone. This was conveyed by SECOMS after attending the opening of the journalist training at the João Paulo Hall, Comoro, Dili.
In an interview with SECOMS, Expedito Loro Dias Ximenes said that today a very important opening training was held for journalists because as journalists and some also as managers of conventional platforms, the training provided by the Press Council is very important because today’s training is themed on debate.
“We all know that technology is now very advanced, therefore journalists need to actualize their performance as journalists, so they need to understand advanced technology such as the appear of artificial intelligence (AI) platforms that bring us to be more familiar with the digital space process.” He said.
He continued, the Government provides full support to the Press Council so that this training can run smoothly, because in this training agenda journalists will learn many things, such as television debates, journalists’ understanding of the real situation in this country, the process of the digitalization era, therefore this training equips journalists to be able to prepare themselves well in facing existing challenges.
“The Ninth Constitutional Government continues to pay attention to training, see in the field of digitalization, and also contexts that are related to the world of digitalization, and previously I also asked journalists to have three important capacities, intellectual capacity, journalists must have critical thinking skills towards news, professional capacity, journalists must follow various training to improve their capacity, and technical capacity, journalists must be independent in all their work.” He added.
He added that journalists were asked to utilize these three capacities and follow good training so that they were able to face existing challenges, especially in the field of advanced technology.
