Dili, February 26, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The President of Camara Comercio Industria Timor-Leste (CCI-TL) held a second meeting with the Hungarian Ambassador to discuss cooperation between the two countries on Education and Agriculture issues.
President of Camara Comercio Industria Timor-Leste, George Mariano Serrano said that this meeting was not the first time but this meeting was the second time to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
“This is the second visit of the Ambassador, last year we both met and talked and now to see what kind of cooperation will be done in the future, especially between Camara Comercio Hungary and Camara Comercio Timor-Leste. Hungary makes investments for neighboring countries and they also see that Timor also has potential in the base process and they also want to strengthen the partnership with the private sector of Timor-Leste, especially Camara Comercio Industria Timor-Leste.” He said in CCI-TL on Monday
He also said there was a possibility in the field of education and would provide scholarships to Timorese citizens to study in Hungary.
“Possibly for the Education sector, the Ambassador will talk to the Government through the Ministry of Higher Education to see scholarships for Timorese citizens to study in Hungary, it is also possible that Camara Comercio wants to study in Economics and Business Management, so it is still under discussion to participate. In addition, we also discussed about the workforce and then will draft a joint document to create an MoU between CCI-TL and Camara Comercio Hungary.” He continued.
On the other hand, the Hungarian Ambassador, Lilla Karsay said that in this second meeting, they discussed the issues of Education and Agriculture, how to see workers who go to work in Hungary.
“In this second meeting, we want to discuss information and also some parts, therefore we discussed the issue of Education and Agriculture, how to see workers so that they can work in Hungary. I believe that Timor-Leste is a very democratic country and wants to explore other friends.” She said.
She added that Timor-Leste has an opportunity because currently Hungary is short of workers and they need Timor-Leste citizens to work there.
“I don’t think it’s a difficult thing, but we just need to look at the legal issues in some things that we need to look at, it can be said that Timor-Leste has an opportunity because as we know currently Hungary is short of labor so they indeed need it, that’s why Timor-Leste has a good opportunity they have Portuguese passports and can easily access Europe, so this is not a big problem, therefore it can provide opportunities for Timor-Leste citizens to work in Hungary.” She continued.
She added that Timor-Leste has a good opportunity, because Timor-Leste can access Portuguese passports, therefore Hungary is cooperating with the state of Timor-Leste through Portuguese passports so that Timor-Leste citizens can access European countries.
