Preventing the Spread of HIV-AIDS, INCSIDA Continues to Socialize HIV-AIDS to the Ailok Village Community

Dili, March 19, 2025 (Média Democracia) – INCSIDA in collaboration with the Dili City Government continues to conduct outreach on HIV-AIDS prevention to the community in Ailok Village so that they have the insight to convey information to their families to avoid transmission of the HIV-AIDS virus.

The purpose of this socialization is to provide an understanding to the public about the impact of the HIV-AIDS virus and how to prevent themselves from this virus, the main target of which is the community, especially young people, to avoid the risk of this disease because this disease can take someone’s life.

Ailok Village Head, Geraldo Maria Alves expressed his appreciation to INCSIDA because through the socialization program it can provide information in order to save the community from HIV.

“Something called HIV-AIDS is very dangerous for our lives, so later our leader will provide information to you, so focus and listen carefully, so that this afternoon when you go home you can convey this information to the community who are not present, especially for those who are present here when the speaker speaks, do not talk to each other but must pay attention.” Said the Village Head through his intervention

He also asked the public who had attended this socialization to pay attention to this information, so that when they returned to their home they could convey this information to the public who did not attend the socialization.

“This means that what you receive in this place must be conveyed to others, I hope that the four sub-village heads and my envoys will convey this information to the community, so if there is a meeting I will continue to convey this information to the community, I also guarantee that in the future I will focus on young men and women to convey this information,” he said.

As a representative of the Dili City Government, SECAM III, Tomás Barros expressed his appreciation and praise to the President of INCSIDA and his entourage who tried to find various ways to implement this socialization program. Therefore, he asked the Ailok community to obey and comply with the instructions given by the speakers on how to prevent themselves from the HIV-AIDS virus, because health is important, if we are not healthy then our work will not go well.

Therefore, through the information conveyed by the speaker as a guide when we return home, we can convey it to our families, neighbors, friends and also to the youth because it is very important to love health, because the role of youth is very important and is greatly needed by the country as the next generation of the nation, how in the future they can build and advance our country.

As President of INCSIDA, Daniel Marçal continued that through this socialization, it can guarantee a reduction in the volume of impacts and large in Timor-Leste.

“I think now we are reducing it, because if we don’t work hard, the media doesn’t intervene strongly, then this case will not only be 2,000, but there will be many cases because we see that the community and young people lack insight so that this transmission is increasing, but we are grateful because it has been 20 years with the contribution and hard work of all of us, in 20 years we can get 2,000, that means this case will not increase because we can postpone it,” he said.

He said, through this socialization, it can provide ideas to the community so that they have the idea to stay away from a free life because the HIV-AIDS virus is very dangerous for people’s lives.

“Everyone is afraid of HIV, everyone wants to live comfortably, live peacefully, if people do not have insight then they will do anything, but if they have insight, even though it is comfortable but they think twice because there is no cure for HIV.” He said firmly.

Therefore, he asked all parties to work hard, and also thanked the media for their contribution, he said that for 20 years at the national level, we have cumulatively had 2,000 cases. However, in some cases there are those who hear but pretend not to hear and do not know, many hear and then forget, some after doing it just remember what has been learned.

He continued to ask all parties not to get tired or weary of continuing to spread this information, do not stop, continue to inform and spread this information that everyone needs to know and especially the younger generation so that they can better understand the transmission of HIV-AIDS in life.
