Dili, July 28, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Civil Protection Authority (APC), during the week of July 14–21, 2025, recorded a total of 28 households affected by natural disasters across nine (9) municipalities. This was announced at a press conference held at the APC Hall in Caicoli, Dili.
The Focal Point of GREK for APC Dili Municipality, Mateus da Costa, stated that during the week in question, the APC registered 10 households that not met the criteria but only for emergency assistance, while 18 households was fully meet the criteria for affected status. Nonetheless, APC provided emergency support to the disaster victims.
“During this one-week period in nine municipalities, the Secretary of State for Civil Protection registered 18 heads of households affected by natural disasters, with 10 households receiving emergency assistance. The total number of affected people was 153, and 21 were evacuated,” said GREK Focal Point Mateus da Costa.
He further explained that in these 9 municipalities, APC recorded 28 houses damaged: 18 by strong winds and 10 by fire, resulting from various natural disasters during that week in July.
Nine municipalities that got damage as follows, in Aileu Municipality such as, in Remexio Post, Padabloco Village, Liqueisa Hamlet (11/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as moderately damaged. In Remexio Post, Karihini Village, Karimou Hamlet (13/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house (only kitchen affected); received emergency assistance. In Tulatakeu Village, Samlete Hamlet (12/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as moderately damaged. And in Aileu Villa Post, Hurai Raco Village, Maurusa Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as moderately damaged. In Ainaro Municipality such as, in Maubisse Post, Maulau Village, Lakmalicau Hamlet (16/07/2025) fire damaged 2 houses, categorized as totally destroyed. In Baucau Municipality such as, in Quelicai Post, Lakuliu Village, Makububo Hamlet (06/07/2025) strong winds damaged 2 houses, categorized as seriously damaged. And in Venilale Post, Umanaulo Village, Kaihula Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as seriously damaged. In Bobonaro Municipality such as, in Maliana Post, Raifun Village, Raifun Vila Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as totally destroyed. And in Cailaco Post, Goulolo Village, Suri-ubun Hamlet (16/07/2025) a house collapsed due to a fallen tree; received emergency support only. In Dili Municipality such as, in Dom Aleixo Post, Comoro Village, 4 September Hamlet (07/04/2025) fire damaged 1 house; emergency support only due to occupation on state land. In Comoro Village, 12 October Hamlet (14/07/2025) fire damaged 1 house; emergency support only due to occupation on state land. And in Bairo Pite Village, Rio de Janeiro Hamlet (15/07/2025) fire damaged 1 house, categorized as totally destroyed. In Ermera Municipality such as, in Ermera Post, Humboe Village, Hatali Hamlet (07/10/2025) fire damaged 1 house, categorized as seriously damaged. In Railaco Post, Fatuquero Village, Palimano Hamlet (07/10/2025) fire damaged 1 house; did not qualify for emergency support. In Tocoluli Village, Tahubate Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house; did not qualify for emergency support. In Hatulia A Post, Ailelo Village, Santa Cruz Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as moderately damaged. In Hatulia B Post, Fatubesi Village, Lebumeo Hamlet (15/07/2025) fire damaged 1 house, categorized as seriously damaged. And in Lisapat Village, Hatupae Hamlet (10/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as seriously damaged. In Manatuto Municipality such as, in Laclo Post, Lacumesak Village, Hatu Conha Hamlet (15/07/2025) strong winds damaged 2 houses, categorized as moderately damaged. And in Lacumesak Village, Hatu Conha Hamlet (16/07/2025) fire damaged 1 house, categorized as totally destroyed. In Manufahi Municipality such as, in Fatuberliu Post, Fatukahi Village, Fukiran Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds caused trees to fall and damage 1 house, categorized as moderately damaged. In RAEOA (Special Administrative Region of Oecusse-Ambeno) such as, in Oesilo Subregion, Usitasae Village, Pune Hamlet (16/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house; did not qualify for emergency support. And in Pante Makassar Subregion, Bobokase Village, Behala Hamlet (17/07/2025) fire damaged 1 house, categorized as totally destroyed. And last, in Viqueque Municipality such as, in Uatu-Carbau Post, Afaloicai Village, Lai Uala Hamlet (07/12/2025) strong winds damaged 1 house, categorized as seriously damaged. And in Viqueque Post, Luca Village, Canlor Hamlet (14/07/2025) strong winds damaged 1 kitchen; did not qualify for emergency support.
According to the GREK Focal Point, emergency aid has already been provided to 28 affected households by APC in coordination with relevant partners. Support included food and non-food items, and the Civil Protection Municipal Operational Command continues to conduct further assessments on households suffering major and moderate damage.
