Dili, October 3, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Through this press release, the Recruitment Secretariat for the 2025 National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) cadets has published the results of the document verification process, listing the candidates who passed and those who did not, as well as announcing the examination date for candidates in each municipality.
Spokesperson of the 2025 Cadet Recruitment Commission, Commander Antonio da Luz, stated that today the Secretariat officially released to the public the results of the verification of documents submitted by candidates from across the municipalities.
“The total number of applications submitted to the Secretariat was 13,770, consisting of 10,255 men and 3,515 women. After verification, 12,851 candidates were admitted, including 9,529 men and 3,322 women. Meanwhile, 919 candidates (726 men and 193 women) did not pass the document verification stage,” said Commander Antonio da Luz.
The spokesperson also informed the public that while the examination for new cadets was initially scheduled for 5 October 2025, due to the time required for document verification, the Commission has decided to postpone it to 12 October 2025.
“The exam schedule is as follows: from 7:00 to 8:00, candidates must already be present at the exam venue. From 8:00 to 8:45, municipal focal points will provide instructions. From 8:45 to 9:45, candidates will enter classrooms for preparation. From 9:45 to 9:55, exam materials will be distributed, and the written test will begin at 10:00 and end at 12:30,” explained Commander Antonio da Luz.
The exam venues have been assigned by municipality and school locations as follows, in Aileu: Aileu Vocational Technical School & ESCAM Aileu, in Ainaro: Benansiu Fras Basic School, in Atauro: 99 Atauro Secondary School, in Baucau: General Secondary School No.2 Villa Novain Bobonaro: General Secondary School Dom Martinho da Costa Lopes, Maliana, in Covalima: General School Seran-Kotek, Suai, in Dili: Police Training Centre, Central Basic School 30 de Agosto Comoro, Escola 5 Comoro (for cadets registered at the Police Training Academy); ESTV Becora; ESTV 28 de Novembro Becora, Ermera: General School Nino Conis Santana; Secondary School 10 de Abril, Ermera, in Lautem: General School Nino Conis Santana, Liquiça: Basic School No.1 Liquiça, in Manatuto: General Secondary School Kayrala; Public School Biadi, in Manufahi: General Secondary School 1912 Manufahi, in Oecusse: EBC + EBF 1 de Maio Palaban, and in Viqueque: General Secondary School 4 de Setembro Viqueque; Basic School 01 Beloi
The spokesperson further emphasized the documents and materials that candidates must bring to the exam: original voter ID card, original BI (identity card). A provisional BI (blank card) is not valid unless authorized by STAE. Candidates must also bring a 2B pencil, eraser, sharpener, ruler, and most importantly, a blue pen or mechanical pencil for the essay section.
“Starting from 3 October 2025, candidates may check the admission lists at their respective municipal command posts. In Dili, candidates can check their names at the academy. Admitted candidates must prepare for the 12 October exam. Those not admitted will be given five days to file an appeal and resubmit documents at their municipal office or at the Secretariat,” added Commander Antonio da Luz.
The exam subjects will include six areas: Tetum, Portuguese, Geography, History, Mathematics, and the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (RDTL). Candidates will also be required to write an essay of up to 200 words, which is why they must bring a blue pen or mechanical pencil.
The spokesperson concluded that the exam materials were prepared by the Recruitment Secretariat in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and all tests will be corrected through the official system. The Secretariat guarantees that the exam content will not be leaked to the public.
