SEATOU and Joint Team Hold Meeting to Discuss 2026 Plan for a Clean and Well-Organized City

Dili, January 9, 2026 (Democracia Media) – The Secretary of State for Toponymy and Urban Organization (SEATOU), together with a joint team, held a coordination meeting with other ministerial line institutions to strengthen cooperation and organize urban management in Timor-Leste throughout 2026. The Secretary of State for Toponymy and Urban Organization, Germano Santa Brites Dias, stated that the meeting with the joint team and ministerial line institutions aimed to improve effective coordination and cooperation in 2026.

“The main objective of this initial joint team meeting in the new year is to establish structured communication and ensure strong cooperation related to road rehabilitation projects in areas such as Fatuahi, Bidau Santa Ana to Metiaut, Becora, Matadoro, and from Ponte My Friends to Pura Taibessi,” said Secretary of State Germano Santa Brites Dias.

He added that the joint team also continued discussions on the data-collection process for communities in areas such as Aitarak Laran, with a strong focus on creating a clean and well-organized city of Dili.

“Through this meeting, the joint team also conducted an evaluation of inter-institutional cooperation to review the progress of activities carried out in the previous year. If there were any shortcomings, the new year provides an opportunity to make improvements,” he explained.

The Secretary of State emphasized that the meeting also served as an evaluation of SEATOU’s work over the past year, allowing the institution to review progress and identify areas that need improvement so that the city can become cleaner and better organized.

He further encouraged all joint team members to continue strengthening cooperation, maintaining good working relationships through effective communication and information sharing, so that activities can be implemented smoothly in order to achieve a clean and organized city.
