Dili, 27 January 2026 (Média Democracia) – Timor-Leste National Police has detained four (4) youths, in relation to a conflict in tibar area, Bazartete Administrative Post, Liquiça Municipality. This information was announced by the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (DSIK), Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis at the PNTL General Commandant in caicoli, Dili.
Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis said, the conflict occurred around 7pm between two groups in the tibar area.
“Initially, the conflict that ocurred at around 7pm was between the Ritual Art Group, Initials C2000 (Colimau2000) and the community in the Tibar Riheu area, resulting in a car being damaged and a community member being injured in the head.” João Belo dos Reis told journalist on Monday (26/01).
The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department said, the incident ocurred after the ritual art group with the initials C2000 returned from Peregrina In Ermera Municipality, following the inauguration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus “Haehria Kukata” in Ermera Municipality.
“The C2000 group was returning from Ermera shouting along the way to the Riheu Area of Tibar and shouted with the community from Tibar Village, resulting in a house being burned, a car being damaged and a community member being injured.” Said Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis.
The Superintendent stated, regarding this incident four (4) suspects are being processe, and other suspects involved in the conflict are being sought by PNTL security authorities to be captured and fully processed.
Our PNTL security authorities from the Criminal Investigation of Liquiça Municipality are currently working and collecting all evidence, and we encourage the victims to report the damages they faced to the PNTL security authoritiies so we could take note. Affirms the Police Superintendente.
In the conflict insident, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Special Police Unit (UEP),including the Reserve Force, immediately deployed to the scene to secure and normalize the siatuation.
“ The liquiça Comandant is now securing the citizenz in tibar and searching fot other suspects involved. We have already detained four (4) suspect, currently held at the liquiça Municipality Comandant. We call on the other suspects to come forward, especially those responsible for burning houses and damaging community property.”Emphasized Police Superintendent João Belo dos Reis.
The PNTL security authority also urged the community to avoid unnecessary conflicts. If there are issues, resolve them camly so you don’t become victims, and your property doesn’t get damage.
The four (4) youths are (initials), SBS, 17 years old, DR, 30 years old, MFG 38 years old, and SS, 43 years old.
