Dili 30 January 2026 (Média Democracia) – Related to the Attack Cases in Tibar and Fahi-Ten, the Liquiça Municipality Command has caontacted the Special Police Unit Command (UEP) and other teams to secure that area.
Special Police Unit (UEP) Commander,Superintendent of Police Damião da Silva Correia said, the incident that happened in the tibar area to fahi-ten has been contacted by the Liquiça Municipality Commander, so security teams are now monitoring the area.
“I think regarding the incidents in the Tibar area to Fahi-Ten, we’ve been coordinated by the Liquiça Municipality Commander, and today we’ve been contacted. So, in coordination with the KAP Charli Special Unit Team, they’ve sent their team now to monitor the area together with them,” said Special Police Unit (UEP) Commander, Superintendent of Police Damião da Silva Correia to Journalists in Tasi-Tolu on Wednesday (28/01/2026)
The Commander affirms that passengers and drives now can move around, as PNTL has placed its units in the Tibar and Fahi-Ten Areas.
“Drivers of Buses and transport can continue circulating, because units are already placed and supported by the Liquiça Municipality Command along with their squads and aslo the reserve force, Taks Force from Liquiça Municipality.” Affirms Special Police Unit (UEP) Commander, Superintendent of Police Damião da Silva Correia.
The Commander added that security teams are currently securing the are to ensure stability, specially in Tibar and Fahi-Ten, and are aslo coordinating with Ermera Municipality PNTL to deploy Task Force, and now the Charly Unit is supporting in the area.
Damião states that currently security is focusing on supporting the Australian Prime Minister’s Visit, but they’re also keeping an eye on small problem in the country.
“Now we all know we’ll support security for our VIP, the neighboring country’s visitor to our country, now we’ll focus on security support, but we alsoo don’t neglect our small situations that happen, the Unit always in coordination too support Liquiça, ongoing,” says Special Police Unit (UEP) Commander
He emphasized, that the Liquiça Municipality Commander has informed communities in Tibar and Fahi-Ten areas to identify suspects origins from, which villages and aldeias their are, so the force can capture those people.
“Now the Liquiça Municipality Commander has contacted and informed about indetification of suspects in their areas, and in which village or aldeia they are, so Special Forces will support to make the capture,” underlined the Special Police Unit Commander.
Meanwhile, Atsabe passenger Bendito Gonçalves says that from Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday, buses from Dili to Ermera turned back at Tibar, and the Tibar Police Post is also empty, no security at all.
“We see that there’s no authority that can make a decision to solve the problem, because it’s been happening for days and buses have to turn back, this morning there were over 8 buses that turn back, and 2 others that went to ermera and railaco got stoned,” Says passenger Bendito
Like other passengers, he doesn’t know about the problem that happened between two groups clashing, and doesn’t know which is group A or B. So he asks the Government to quickly make a decision on this problem, because as people they really need stability.
“We, the small people, don’t’ know anything, so we really need the leader’s to make strict decisions when a problem happens,because we also need stability,” Adds passenger Bendito
The passenger representative affirm, that security should pay attention too the high hills, because often unknown people stand on the side of the road and Throw buses or cars,private vehicles.
Ermera Municipality representative, Jorginha de Fatima, asks security to ensure their safety when traveling from Dili to Ermere, because on Wednesday (28/01) they were heading to Eremera, but when they got to Tibar, unknown people threw stones, so they couldn’t continue to ermera and turned back to Dili.
