Dili, 10 February 2026 (Média Democracia) – Secretary of State for Social Communication (SEKOMS) through the ICT Department collaborated with Childfund Timor-Leste to create a website to support children with information and also enable everyone to access ChildFund’s work and program activities through its own website.
Swipe Safe Project Coordinator (KPSS), Alexandre Pires Mendes, said the initial patnership was made with the Government through the Secretary of State for Social Communication (SEKOMS) to create ChildFund’s website, enabling everyone to access information about childfund’s work.
“The main objective we had initially when we patnered with stakeholders or the Government through SEKOMS was create ChildFund’s own website. So, all information related to ChildFund’s activities can be published on the website for everyone to access information about ChildFund’s work.” Said Swipe Safe Project Coordinator, Alexandre Pires Mendes, to journalists at Kolmera Tais Market Dili
Swipe Safe Project Coordiantor added that during the collaboration, we received support from the Secretary of State for Social Communication (SEKOMS) such as creating a digital wall in schools as a channel, so when material related to child pretection online, everyone can access it through ChildFund’s website. Besides that there’s an agreement with (SEKOMS) to promote child protection in online media and in schools
“The website we craeted will publish various information related to ChildFund’s programs. As a Project Coordinator, we have many programs like online safety, child protection, so we can protect children in health, education, and also online. That’s ChildFund’s specific program.” Added Swipe Safe Project Coordinator
The coordinator informed that the ongoing work that ChildFund is doing with strong support from SEKOMS is creating digital wall journals in schools as a channel, so when there’s a material related to child protection in the online area.
In the same place, Head of IT Department SEKOMS, Sandra De Jesus Brites, stated that as the IT responsible in SEKOMS, to provided technical support for ChildFund Timor-Leste, until the website’s launch, because there’s already cooperation between SEKOMS and ChildFund Timor-Leste in 2025.
“We IT Department at SEKOMS was responsible for supporting the technical process of developing ChildFund Timor-Leste’s website, from planning the structure and designing the website’s interface to the launch phase. Our main objective is to support and strengthen cooperation between SEKOMS and ChildFund Timor-Leste based on the agreetment or Memorandum Understanding (MoU) signed by the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Loro Dias Ximenes, and ChildFund Timor-Leste’s Director, Alzira Dos Reis, in April 2025.” Said Head of IT Department SEKOMS, Sandra De Jesus Brites
The head of Department added that the agreement between Government through SEKOMS and ChildFund Timor-Leste is to wrok together to promote digital literacy, allowing the public, partners, and donors to access information about child programs and social activities, making it easier and more transparent.
Futher explains that ChildFund Timor-Leste collaborated with the Secretary of State for Social Communication (SEKOMS) to install a website to ChildFund, facilitating children and enabling them to be protected through online materials. Additionally, it makes easier for everyone to access programs and activities that ChildFund Timor-Leste does, through their own website.
