Dili, November 15, 2024 (Média Democracia) – The Civil Protection Authority (APC) together with the International Partner of the World Food Program (WFP) held a workshop with the theme, “Initial Humanitarian Logistics Preparation”. This workshop was held for two days starting from 14-15 at the Novo Turismo Hotel, on Wednesday.
According to the APC State Secretary, Domingos Mariano Reis said that this workshop was about preparation for the initial humanitarian logistics to contribute to the preparation and answers to natural disasters.
“This workshop is very important because this humanitarian logistics is an important element to contribute to preparation and answers to emergency recommendations, because Timor-Leste has various types of natural disasters such as floods, landslides, fires, earthquakes with difficult levels, must have a plan good to answer this emergency. To mobilize this resource is not easy, that is why receiving support from the World Food Program (WFP) to hold this seminar to managers about how to increase their knowledge of humanitarian mobilization to answer this emergency, in this workshop also shares subjects about logistics management for answer emergency.” He said
He underlined that Timor-Leste faced a very difficult climate or weather like a long summer and always rain, which is why this workshop received financial support from WFP as a partner with APC.
“Timor-Leste faces climate change that occurs such as rain and long summer, which is why collaborating with WFP to facilitate information, especially humanitarian logistics subjects, and WFP also provides transportation and food support. Partners who always provide support to APCs such as WFP, IOM and other partners.” He added
He explained more that the incident that occurred in Raeoa affected community homes with a total of 12, because it was caused by fire, therefore APC and the team immediately support emergency matters for the victims.
On the other hand, according to the Deputy Director of WFP, Amind said that the purpose of this workshop received good collaboration with partners, especially APC.
“This workshop receives a good collaboration between partners and APC, to focus more on humanitarian logistics, how to answer emergency situations, especially in natural disasters that occur in the community, which is why WFP continues to support APC about how to answer recroopening from natural disasters ” He said
He explained more that WFP was ready to continue to support APC to work together to support a community that was affected by natural disasters, so as to provide urgent support to victims of natural disasters that occurred.
