Dili, June 24, 2026 (Media Democracia) – Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) celebrates its 26th anniversary with the theme “Together for Humanity”, to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism and humanitarian service for communities and vulnerable groups in Timor-Leste.
CVTL President, Madalena Soares Hanjam, said the theme reflects the organization’s commitment to continue providing services and protection to communities that need support.
“Today we celebrate 26 years of CVTL’s existence in our country. The theme ‘Together for Humanity’ reflects our work and service to communities and populations that need support. We want to respond to human needs in all kinds of conditions.” said Madalena Soares Hanjam during the celebration at CVTL Formosa Hall, June 22 2026.
She also asked for support from partners and communities to strengthen the humanitarian movement, which is based on the culture, traditions and values of solidarity of the Timorese people.
“We need your support to strengthen this humanitarian work. We want to reflect human needs in our culture and tradition. With that, we can continue carrying out work that benefits the community.” she said.
The CVTL President added that the organization will continue to mobilize volunteers to carry out humanitarian activities according to CVTL’s strategic plan, including preparation for climate change risks and natural disasters.
“We will mobilize volunteers to carry out volunteer activities and keep updating our strategic plan. With good preparation, CVTL can respond quickly to emergency situations and support communities that need assistance.” she added.
The 26th anniversary celebration was also an opportunity to recognize the contributions of CVTL volunteers and staff who have dedicated themselves for many years to humanitarian service in health, disaster response, and support for vulnerable communities in Timor-Leste.
