Father Indra: Death Is an Opportunity to Show Love and Pray for the Dead

COVALIMA, November, 04, 2026 [Media Democracia] – Father Francisco Indra Tey Seran invites all Christians to take advantage of the celebration of the Feast of the Faithful (Feast of the Dead) to pray for their families and friends who have died, and continue to show love to the living, through good deeds, forgiveness and helping each other.

Father Celebrant Francisco Indra Tey Seran, in his homily, said the celebration of the Feast of the Faithful of the Dead gives Christians an opportunity to reflect on faith, hope and charity. Although we do not know exactly when and how our life on earth will end, we believe that death is not the end of life.

“In Christ, we have hope for eternal life. Our faith in Christ becomes the light that guides us on the path of life. Therefore, on this day, we not only think about the dead, but also think about our own lives, our relationship with God and our responsibility to others,” said Father Indra Francis during his service. mass at the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, Matai, Maucatar, today.

He said through the celebration of the Feast of the Dead, the Church invites all Christians to show love to the families of the deceased through concrete actions.

“Love is not just words, but must be manifested in daily actions and deeds. The first way to show our love is through prayer,” he said.

Father Indra explained that Christians can pray for parents, siblings, family and friends who have died. Prayer is a way to show that we will remember them and continue to ask for God’s peace and love for them.

He affirmed that through sacrifice and participation in the celebration of the Eucharist, Christians can offer Holy Mass and pray for the intentions of the families of the deceased, asking God to receive them in His love.

The priest also asked the faithful in Matai to, when making a pilgrimage to the grave or place where the families of the deceased rest, visit their graves, lay flowers and pray. He said that these acts are not only ceremonies, but also ways to renew memory and show love to those who once lived with us.

“But, the most important thing is not just visiting the grave or laying flowers. We must show love to the living, especially to the family and people who need our help. This is a concrete sign of Christian faith and charity,” he asked.

Father Francisco Indra also invited the faithful to reflect on their pilgrimage journey in the world, because not everyone lives in this world forever.

He said, one day, everyone will return to God. Therefore, we must prepare our lives through good deeds, forgiveness, love and peace.

He went on to say that our lives must be witnesses of the Gospel of Christ, living in faith, hope and charity, so that when we meet God, we can stand before Him with peace of mind.

The Celebrant Father also said, in the celebration of the Feast of the Faithful Deceased, Christians must remember that Christ is the center of their faith. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we receive the hope of salvation and eternal life.

He explained that in the Eucharist, Christians receive the body and blood of Christ, which strengthens faith and gives strength to continue living according to His teachings.

Therefore, when praying for the families of the deceased, Christians ask God to give them rest in peace and tranquility. At the same time, Christians also ask God to strengthen their faith, so that they can continue to live in love and prepare themselves for the encounter with God.

Before finishing, Father Francisco Indra gave the message that the Feast of the Faithful Deceased is not only a day of sadness, but also a day of hope, because Christians believe that God is the source of life and in His love they hope for eternal life.

“Let us continue to pray for our families and friends who have died, and live according to the way of Christ. Let us love each other, forgive each other and do good to all people, because this is a sign of our faith and love for God,” Father Francisco Indra concluded.
