Dili, June 17, 2026 (Media Democracia) – The Commander of the Naval Component, FALINTIL – Timor-Leste Defence Force (F-FDTL), Commodore Higino das Neves “SUPER-MAN”, together with official delegates, participated in the International Maritime Military Expo FLOT-2026 in Kronstadt, Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, from June 9 to 14, 2026.
The main objective of this participation is to strengthen friendship relations and military maritime cooperation, increase knowledge of modern naval technology, and seek opportunities for education, training, and capacity development of the F-FDTL Naval Component.
On June 11, an important moment of the visit occurred when Commodore Higino das Neves “SUPER-MAN” participated in a meeting with the Commander of the Russian Federation Navy and the heads of naval delegations from 26 countries.
During the meeting, they discussed maritime security, cooperation between navies, and opportunities to strengthen institutional capacity.
After the meeting, Commodore Higino das Neves “SUPER-MAN” also exchanged gifts with the Commander of the Russian Federation Navy as a symbol of friendship and respect, demonstrating the good relationship and spirit of cooperation between the two institutions.
In addition, the Timor-Leste delegation also visited exhibitions of modern naval equipment, maritime defense systems, and important naval education institutions in Russia, including the Naval Academy and the Nakhimov Naval School.
This participation reflects the commitment of FALINTIL – Timor-Leste Defence Force (F-FDTL) to continue developing the professional and operational capacity of the Naval Component, through learning, exchanging experiences, and strengthening cooperation with partner countries.
