Dili, January 16, 2025 (Média Democracia) – Alcina da Costa, 56 years old, from Lautem, now lives in Comoro, Dili. Her daily activities is opening a stall to meet the needs of her family and her children’s school fees.
According to Alcina, throughout her life she worked as a trader with daily activities opening a small stall on the side of the road because she wanted to meet her living needs and send her children to school.
“The money I brought to open the stall is my own money of 150 USD since 2011 until now. I opened the stall to meet the needs of my family because my husband left me with our six children for more than 10 years, so everything depends on the stall. When my children ask for money to pay for public transportation to school, sometimes I always have difficulty because there is no money to meet the needs of my children but I have to try hard because I am the head of the family for my six children.” She said
She continued, opening this stall business has been running for more than 10 years because she wanted to meet her daily living needs and her children’s school fees, such as when she needed money, it had to be disbursed immediately, so that her children could still feel a mother’s love even in difficult times.
“In the stall that I sell every day, I always get a turnover of 5 to 10 USD and above, but I think it is not enough to meet daily needs, but if accompanied by God’s grace, all activities will run well. Although so far I have always faced various challenges, but as a mother I must be responsible because if we just stay at home who can be responsible for our needs.” She added.
She added that the income she earned every day was not much because many people also opened small stalls on the side of the road to meet their daily needs, so everything was done with effort in order to be successful.
Explain in more detail that Alcina as a single parent whose husband left her for more than 10 years with her six children, so she decided to do business opening a stall so she could earn income to meet her daily needs. Although she has always faced various obstacles, as a mother she does not mind these things, with all God’s grace everything will go well.
