Dili, August 21, 2026 (Media Democracia) – Security Authorities, Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL), through the Criminal Investigation Service Directorate (DSIK), on Wednesday (19/08) executed an arrest warrant with NUC: 0248/26.PNSIC for 13 defendants, after the Dili District Court altered the coercive measure from an Identity and Residence Order (TIR) to Preventive Detention (PP).
The 13 defendants are allegedly involved in a scam call center case located in the Ulmera area, Liquiçá Municipality.
The execution of the arrest warrant was carried out in accordance with the decision of the Dili District Court (TJPID), which determined the change of coercive measure to Preventive Detention for the defendants who are currently under investigation for alleged involvement in scam call center activities.
After the warrant was executed, the 13 defendants were taken to Becora Prison to serve the Preventive Detention measure, in accordance with the order and decision of the competent judicial authority.
The PNTL Criminal Investigation Service Directorate continues to carry out the investigation process in accordance with legal procedures to ascertain the facts and evidence related to this case, and guarantees that the investigation is conducted with respect for the law and the fundamental rights of all parties.
PNTL reaffirms its commitment to continue combating criminal activity, including fraud and forms of cybercrime, through professional investigations and collaboration with judicial authorities, with the objective of ensuring security and public order in Timor-Leste.
