Oe-Cusse, January 28, 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Regional Secretary for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (SRAFP) placed 20 extension workers to collaborate with communities in 18 villages in the special region of Oe-Cusse to see the problems faced by the community fundamentally.
According to SRAFP, Filomena Sila, extension workers who go to the village as the eyes and mouth of the community when the community faces problems with pesticides that damage the community’s crops in the field must be reported to the relevant parties so that they can more quickly resolve the problems faced by the community in the field.
“So far, we have received many orders related to solving and handling problems faced by the community such as corn and rice plant pests damage. We always help according to the orders submitted to us because so far we have always helped according to the orders,” She said.
She continued, in 2024 has prepared funds of 27 thousand USD to purchase “AMO” organic fertilizer to make it easier for people to cultivate land so that they do not experience problems with pests that damage corn and rice plants.
“In 2024, we also received many orders from the community, I myself will go directly make dispatch to serve the needs of the community if there are obstacles in the field. Our technicians will immediately bring the medicines to provide orientation to the community, how to use the medicines to eradicate pests that damage the community’s food crops,” She said.
She emphasized that so far her party has always helped the community, but based on the orders given regarding pests that damage corn and rice plants, so that they can directly help the community if the community is not cooperative with the extension workers in the village, then this is a problem that must be resolved immediately in stages.
“When the community has a problem, an order must be given immediately, so that the problem faced by the community related to pests that damage plants or trees in the fields can be resolved immediately. Medicines purchased using state funds, which will be distributed to the community but must be based on orders, so that they can be reported and then will be submitted to the state.” She added.
She emphasized that as many as 20 extension workers spread across 18 villages will go directly to the community to see firsthand the problems faced by the community related to the issue of climate change which has an impact on the destruction of farmers’ food in the fields.
For more details about the “AMO” fertilizer which has now handed over 27 thousand USD. The first day of the launch of “AMO” organic fertilizer on the Holosa land in Lalisuk village, its function is to kill various pests. Currently, the community has collected and seen good results because this medicine functions not only to kill pests but also to improve the quality of rice.
